Chapter 909

โ€œAlright, just keep monitoring her,โ€ the chief said with a nod, feeling somewhat reassured. He hadnโ€™t asked for that level of detail. Everything Zack had just shared was voluntary, which meant he was taking the initiative on this matter. So clearly, he wasnโ€™t completely blinded by Tessaโ€™s looks.

The chief then asked about Tessaโ€™s physical condition. The intern reported everything truthfully. โ€œSheโ€™s mostly fine now, just her vocal cords are hard to recover. We donโ€™t know how things will go from here.โ€

โ€œAlright then.โ€ The chief stood still, feeling a twinge of regret. Heโ€™d heard Tessa had a beautiful voice. But everything had happened so suddenly, none of them had time to react. That was how Julian had gotten his chance. But what was done was doneโ€”they could only do their best to make up for it now. There was no other way.

The chief didnโ€™t bother being vague anymore. โ€œZack, bring Tessa to the station this afternoon.โ€ The intern didnโ€™t quite understand what the chief meant. โ€œMr. Warren, what do you mean?โ€ Zack hadnโ€™t caught up yet. Heโ€™d been at the hospital so long, heโ€™d almost forgotten what the station even looked like. Being called back so suddenly, it threw him off a little.

โ€œExactly what I said.โ€ The chief didnโ€™t hold back. โ€œWeโ€™ve already gathered some evidence, and itโ€™s connected to Tessa. Bring her back and get a clear statement. โ€œShe may be injured, but sheโ€™s still a suspect. That status shouldnโ€™t be forgotten.โ€ Zack nodded, understanding exactly what the chief meant. And he was secretly pleasedโ€”he wouldnโ€™t have to stay at the hospital anymore. He was more than tired of the constant smell of disinfectant. Heโ€™d wanted out of there for a while.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll have Tessa pack up. Donโ€™t worry, Mr. Warren.โ€ The chief was pleased to hear that. โ€œGood, then Iโ€™ll wait for your update.โ€ Zack responded earnestly, โ€œUnderstood.โ€ After they hung up, he was still smiling. Heโ€™d thought this day would take much longer to arrive. But it had come sooner than expected. He really should always keep a positive outlook on life.

Though, he wasnโ€™t sure how Tessa would react. Zack hesitated for a second, then shook his head and relaxed. It didnโ€™t matter. Whether she liked it or not, this wasnโ€™t up to her. Right now, she was still a suspect. Everything else was irrelevant.

With that in mind, Zack headed back inside. The moment he walked in, Tessa looked up and met his eyes. Without hesitating, Zack repeated what the chief had said. โ€œWeโ€™re heading back to the station. Go ahead and pack your things.โ€

Tessa was caught off guard. She remained on the bed, not moving right away. Her gaze shimmered slightly as she looked at Zack. โ€œOfficerโ€ฆ is there a reason Iโ€™m being brought back now?โ€ Tessa still clung to the mindset of โ€œdonโ€™t move unless the other side moves.โ€ In such a powerless position, she couldnโ€™t afford to act rashly.
