Chapter 921

His tall figure looked somewhat desolate from behind as he walked away.

โ€œWhen youโ€™re back from your trip, make sure to tell me. Donโ€™t let me be the last to find out.โ€

Judy quickly agreed over the phone, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll definitely let you know.โ€

Joseph then ended the call, reminding her to take care of herself.

Because he trusted her, he didnโ€™t say much more.

Besides, he knew Judy had been through a lot lately.

He felt guilty about it, so he didnโ€™t press her further.

He figured heโ€™d ask her again once she returnedโ€”there was still time.

There was no rush. These things could wait.

It was exactly that shift in Josephโ€™s mood and the lingering guilt he felt toward Judy that kept his suspicions at bay.

At most, he found a few things odd and chalked it all up to stress.

He decided to wait until she came back before figuring out the next step.

That was the only thing he was certain of at the moment.

What mattered later would be seeing how Judy behaved.

Joseph sighed inwardly.

If his parents hadnโ€™t been so harsh with her before, he wouldnโ€™t have treated her this way.

Deep down, he really did feel sorry for her.

All his efforts were just so his father would accept her sooner.

Joseph eventually drove home, choosing to believe what Judy told him.

Meanwhile, the moment Judy hung up, she turned to Kenneth and burst into tears.

โ€œThat scared me to death. What if heโ€™d found out? What would we have done?โ€

Kenneth lifted his hand to wrap around Judyโ€™s waist, gently patting her to calm her down.

โ€œItโ€™s okay. You donโ€™t need to be scared. I saw all of this coming.โ€

He looked composed and in control, showing no sign of being intimidated by Joseph.

Judy began to feel a little more at ease, but she was still uneasy.

โ€œDo you think Josephโ€™s already starting to suspect something?โ€

Kenneth shook his head. โ€œI donโ€™t think so. Weโ€™ve both been pretty careful about everything.โ€

Judy nodded in agreement. โ€œThatโ€™s true, butโ€ฆ you donโ€™t really know Joseph.โ€

โ€œYou do?โ€

Kenneth looked at her, puzzled, a teasing glint in his eyes.

โ€œHe usually doesnโ€™t speak to me like that. But todayโ€™s callโ€ฆ it was definitely strange.โ€

Judy stepped out of Kennethโ€™s arms, putting some distance between them.

โ€œI canโ€™t just sit back and wait. When I get back, I need to strike first.โ€

Kenneth watched her, amused by her fighting spirit.

โ€œFair enough. As long as you think you can handle him, thatโ€™s what matters.โ€

He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

โ€œBesides, even if you canโ€™t, Iโ€™ve got other ways to deal with him. Joseph Hunt is nothing to be afraid of.โ€

Heโ€™d already figured it outโ€”Joseph was the type who bullied the weak and feared the strong. What was there to be afraid of?

And if it really came down to it, there was still Lucas.

Josephโ€™s latest moves were already threatening Auroraโ€™s company.

So, with a little push, the two men could easily turn on each other.
