Chapter 921
His tall figure looked somewhat desolate from behind as he walked away.
โWhen youโre back from your trip, make sure to tell me. Donโt let me be the last to find out.โ
Judy quickly agreed over the phone, โDonโt worry, Iโll definitely let you know.โ
Joseph then ended the call, reminding her to take care of herself.
Because he trusted her, he didnโt say much more.
Besides, he knew Judy had been through a lot lately.
He felt guilty about it, so he didnโt press her further.
He figured heโd ask her again once she returnedโthere was still time.
There was no rush. These things could wait.
It was exactly that shift in Josephโs mood and the lingering guilt he felt toward Judy that kept his suspicions at bay.
At most, he found a few things odd and chalked it all up to stress.
He decided to wait until she came back before figuring out the next step.
That was the only thing he was certain of at the moment.
What mattered later would be seeing how Judy behaved.
Joseph sighed inwardly.
If his parents hadnโt been so harsh with her before, he wouldnโt have treated her this way.
Deep down, he really did feel sorry for her.
All his efforts were just so his father would accept her sooner.
Joseph eventually drove home, choosing to believe what Judy told him.
Meanwhile, the moment Judy hung up, she turned to Kenneth and burst into tears.
โThat scared me to death. What if heโd found out? What would we have done?โ
Kenneth lifted his hand to wrap around Judyโs waist, gently patting her to calm her down.
โItโs okay. You donโt need to be scared. I saw all of this coming.โ
He looked composed and in control, showing no sign of being intimidated by Joseph.
Judy began to feel a little more at ease, but she was still uneasy.
โDo you think Josephโs already starting to suspect something?โ
Kenneth shook his head. โI donโt think so. Weโve both been pretty careful about everything.โ
Judy nodded in agreement. โThatโs true, butโฆ you donโt really know Joseph.โ
โYou do?โ
Kenneth looked at her, puzzled, a teasing glint in his eyes.
โHe usually doesnโt speak to me like that. But todayโs callโฆ it was definitely strange.โ
Judy stepped out of Kennethโs arms, putting some distance between them.
โI canโt just sit back and wait. When I get back, I need to strike first.โ
Kenneth watched her, amused by her fighting spirit.
โFair enough. As long as you think you can handle him, thatโs what matters.โ
He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
โBesides, even if you canโt, Iโve got other ways to deal with him. Joseph Hunt is nothing to be afraid of.โ
Heโd already figured it outโJoseph was the type who bullied the weak and feared the strong. What was there to be afraid of?
And if it really came down to it, there was still Lucas.
Josephโs latest moves were already threatening Auroraโs company.
So, with a little push, the two men could easily turn on each other.
