Tessa was so mortified she could’ve scratched out a whole three-bedroom apartment on the plane floor. Hearing Zack’s words made her go completely blank.

Why was it that whenever you were embarrassed, something even more embarrassing always followed?

“Oh, no, I’m just really tired. Thought I’d try to get some sleep.”

Just as Zack was about to ask another question, Tessa quickly covered his mouth with her hand.

“Alright, Officer Zack, you’ve had a long trip too. You should take a rest. Once we land, you’ve got work to deal with at the station.”

Zack thought about it and realized she had a point.

He nodded, accepting her suggestion.

Seeing that he finally dropped the topic, Tessa let out a sigh of relief.

God, if this farce didn’t end soon, she truly didn’t know how she’d get out of it.

It was painfully awkward.

And with Julian in his current state, there was no doubt the Hayes Enterprises stock would take a hit once they got back. Tessa began calculating her next move.

It looked like the Hayes family was shaping up to be a discardable piece.

As for the issue with that bank transaction tied to her account, she needed to think carefully about how to resolve it.

One thing was clear–she couldn’t stay at the police station.

Not only was it a waste of time, it also damaged her image and would leave a long-lasting impact.

After the warning, Julian had finally quieted down.

For the rest of the trip, he didn’t call Tessa names or shout anything at her again.

And it was precisely because of that that Tessa finally felt a bit of peace and quiet.

Sure, most people wouldn’t take a lunatic’s words seriously.

But still, that didn’t stop him from going on and on.

The officer on duty looked troubled after hearing the situation.

But Zack patted his shoulder reassuringly.

“It’s alright. Our chief has already spoken with yours.”

He gave a brief smile. “Just do what you need to do–don’t be afraid.”

Hearing that, the local officer finally relaxed.

“Alright, thank you, Officer Zack. I’ll take the two of them in now."
