After speaking, Aurora stood up without looking directly at Grace.

“As for everything else, I truly don’t know. Please don’t make things harder for me. You can actually investigate this yourself.”

With that, Aurora turned to leave.

Grace watched Aurora’s back and finally realized that she had truly overlooked her daughter’s feelings.

However, she really had no choice.

Both were her flesh and blood, and she didn’t know how to let go of either.

Even if pressing Aurora like this would hurt her, it was still better than letting Tessa lose her life.

And as for the Hayes family, she would never let them off.

Grace closed her eyes, and a tear slipped down her cheek.

Aurora didn’t see this moment.

When she stepped out of Grace’s office, she saw Ian lingering outside.

Aurora asked, “Why are you still here?”

Seeing her come out, Ian trotted over, throwing a knowing glance toward the office. “Miss Aurora, how did the conversation with Madam Grace go?”

Aurora’s expression stiffened, and the lightness from earlier vanished.

Ian was a savvy one–it was obvious their conversation hadn’t gone smoothly.

Otherwise, why would Aurora react that way when the topic came up?

After so many years in the workplace, he had a decent sense for reading people.

“It was fine. Thank you,” Aurora said with a faint smile.

But anyone could see the smile didn’t reach her eyes.

“Alright, let’s not talk about that anymore,” Ian said awkwardly, changing the subject. “Miss Aurora, what’s your plan for the Hunt family?”

Aurora cleared her throat and shifted her focus back to work.

“Gather a detailed profile of their company for me first,” she said after a pause. “Also, give me a report on Joseph Hunt’s recent movements.”

Ian nodded without hesitation. “Got it. I’ll get on it right away.”

Aurora gave him a slight nod in return, signaling her thanks.

When she returned to her office, Grace’s words continued to echo in her mind.

So, was it really her fault?

With the way Tessa treated her, there was no way she could still respond with grace.

There was nothing to discuss.

Tessa going to prison was entirely her own doing.

She had been doing just fine back in Millford, but she brought Julian along, just to bring her harm.

And now? She ended up worse off instead.

Aurora took a deep breath and gently shook her head, trying to push the thoughts away.

She didn’t want to dwell on it anymore.

Right now, the priority was Joseph.

He’d never been this ambitious before.

Yet now that he was managing a subsidiary, he’d somehow become even more capable.

Besides, Aurora couldn’t shake the feeling that with Joseph’s intellect, there was no way he could’ve improved this quickly.

Not to mention, his intentions were clear–he was targeting the Walton family directly.

That could only mean someone was behind him, someone who deeply resented her and the Walton Corporation.

And Aurora already had an answer in her heart.

Besides that woman, there was no one else it could be.
