Chapter 976

Otherwise, it would only make her feel more guilty.

Aurora gave Arnold a polite nod. โ€œMr. Lee, is my mom home?โ€

โ€œShe is, she is,โ€ he replied quickly, then asked, โ€œAre you here to talk to Madam Grace about something?โ€

Aurora hesitated, unsure how to begin.

She simply shook her head. โ€œIโ€™ll speak to her in a bit.โ€

Her expression revealed nothing, but it was clear she wasnโ€™t about to explain anything to the butler.

โ€œAlright then.โ€

Arnold understood perfectly.

He realized that asking what she intended to discuss with Grace wasnโ€™t exactly appropriate.

It was a personal matter, and it wasnโ€™t his place to pry.

He quickly apologized. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Miss Aurora. I overstepped.โ€

Aurora didnโ€™t take it to heart.

She gave a small shake of her head. โ€œItโ€™s fine. I know you didnโ€™t mean anything by it.โ€

She spoke as she made her way inside.

Seeing this, Arnold gave up trying to stop her.

He really had no authority to do anything.

He was just staffโ€”he couldnโ€™t actually block a family member from entering.

Everything now depended on how Grace would handle things.

Thinking it over, Arnold figured it probably wouldnโ€™t be a big deal.

They were all family, after all.

Whatever happened next was up to Grace.

As Aurora stepped into the house, the first thing she saw was Tessa eating happily at the table while Grace hovered nearby, fussing over her.

The sight sent a sharp pang through Auroraโ€™s chest.

So, all that worry sheโ€™d had over Graceโ€™s state of mind?

It turned out Grace had already welcomed the person at the center of it all right back into the house.

What did that make her feelingsโ€”some kind of joke?

What did her worries even mean to Grace, in the end?

Grace had already known Aurora was coming the moment she heard the butlerโ€™s voice.

But she had no idea how to react.

After all, Tessa was right here. If she responded too strongly, it wouldnโ€™t be fair to her.

Tessa, on the other hand, had been watching Graceโ€™s reaction closely the entire time.

She was just as curiousโ€”which of the two daughters held more weight in Graceโ€™s heart?

To her surprise, even when Aurora walked in, Grace didnโ€™t change a thing.

She just kept placing food onto Tessaโ€™s plate.

And when she saw Aurora, she greeted her with a cheerful smile.

โ€œAurora, have you eaten? Come sit and have something. Itโ€™s all freshly made.โ€

Aurora didnโ€™t respond. Her eyes settled on the dishes.

Judging by the presentation, she could tell theyโ€™d been cooked by her mother.

Her fists clenched.

When she came home, there had been none of this.

But Tessa?

What had she done to deserve this?

She had already told Grace everythingโ€”that Tessa had been in league with Julian.

Why didnโ€™t she believe her?

Even now, was she still pretending not to see the truth?

Aurora took a deep breath, trying hard to steady her emotions.

Tessa spoke at just the right moment.

โ€œSis, why donโ€™t you sit and eat something? Mom doesnโ€™t cook oftenโ€”you donโ€™t want to miss this.โ€

Her words only confirmed what Aurora already suspected.

A pang of guilt stirred in Graceโ€™s chest.

She honestly hadnโ€™t expected Aurora to show up today. The whole situation had caught her off guard.

But now that she was here, hiding from it wouldnโ€™t be right either.
