Listen to this chapter:

He hadnโ€™t expected that even after saying all that, she still wouldnโ€™t back down. She didnโ€™t even change her tone. That only made Joseph angrier. He raised his hand, ready to teach Aurora a lesson.

Auroraโ€™s eyes widened. She hadnโ€™t thought heโ€™d actually dare.

โ€œJoseph, Iโ€™m warning youโ€“if you touch me, your Hunt Enterprises wonโ€™t get away with it either.โ€

Joseph hesitated for a split second. Then he thought of Judy. She had suffered tooโ€“bullied by Auroraโ€“but when it came to dealing with Aurora, she always thought of him first. She never even considered herself. All she ever thought about was how heโ€™d been thrown into prison because of Aurora.

Thinking of that, Joseph looked at Aurora with even more resentment. โ€œYouโ€™re threatening me now?โ€ He tilted his head slightly, a crooked smile on his face.

At that moment, Aurora finally felt a trace of fear. This time, she had been reckless. She shouldnโ€™t have come here so impulsively. She shouldโ€™ve been more cautious, or better yet, brought Ian along. At least then, she wouldโ€™ve had someone to keep things in check. But now, she hadnโ€™t expected Joseph to be this unhinged.

Aurora took a deep breath, seized the moment, and was just about to make a move, but Joseph caught on instantly. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Why did it feel like every move she tried was already predicted by him? Was Joseph always like this before?

In her mind, he had always been the reckless, brainless type. But now, it felt like he had changed completely.

Joseph let out a cold laugh. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Still think Iโ€™m the same fool from before? Iโ€™m telling you, times have changed. Donโ€™t underestimate me.โ€

Aurora struggled, but it was useless. All she could do was glare at his arrogant face. But the next second, Joseph didnโ€™t go through with hitting her. Instead, he sneered, โ€œLook at this pretty little face. I couldnโ€™t bear to mess it up.โ€

Just as he reached out to touch her, the door suddenly burst open. Both of them froze, especially Josephโ€“startled, he immediately let go of her jaw.

Aurora seized the moment and slapped him hard across the face, following it with a shoulder throw that sent him crashing to the ground. She knew this was her best chance. She didnโ€™t even stop to look at who had come through the door. Panting slightly, she looked down at Joseph lying on the floor, her expression full of contempt.

โ€œWhat happened? Werenโ€™t you acting all high and mighty just now?โ€ She stepped on him. โ€œGo on, act tough again. Letโ€™s see it, hmm? Snatching my projects, poaching people from my companyโ€“youโ€™re getting bolder by the day.โ€

As she spoke, she didnโ€™t hold back at all, each word landing like a blow. Since things had already come to this, there was no point in pretending anymore. No reason to be polite to Joseph.

โ€œServes you right. You even thought about laying a hand on me? Go on, try it.โ€ As she spoke, her foot didnโ€™t pause for a second.

Joseph raised a trembling hand, pointing at her, his voice quivering. โ€œYouโ€ฆ viciousโ€ฆ womanโ€ฆโ€

Aurora arched a brow, amused. โ€œOh? Still have the strength to talk? Impressive.โ€
