Chapter 93

A bruised and battered man sat before them. The moment he took in his surroundings, he realized his dire situation. His swollen eyes prevented him from clearly seeing the faces around him, and he began to wail. "Thea, you've got to help me! I came here to see you, and look what happened. I got beaten up! You can't just leave me like this. Without your backing, how would I have dared to barge into the Rowland family?"

Ivy's face darkened. "Thea, explain this."

Thea calmly found a seat. "Mom, if I really knew this guy, would I have had him brought here? You really are something. You don't trust your own daughter, but you believe a random stranger? Who's really your flesh and blood?" Ivy choked back a frustrated cough.

The man continued to moan. "Thea, what do you mean? Now that you've been caught, are you going to blame me? I have messages on my phone where you told me you were upset about your fiancé being with another woman and invited me out for drinks."

Thea remained unfazed. "And when exactly did I send you those messages?"

"Around nine o'clock," he blurted out.

Ivy's anger dissipated, replaced by suspicion. 'Nine o'clock? At that time, I was taking Thea to the room to drug her,' she thought. She knew Thea couldn't have been messaging anyone at that hour. The man's claims were clearly false.

While Ivy disliked Thea and had considered sacrificing her to protect her reputation, she wouldn't allow anyone to frame her daughter. Emmalie noticed Ivy's reaction and whispered, "Mom, something's off. This doesn't seem like Thea. She may not be wise, but her taste in men isn't that poor. This man—his appearance, his clothes—Thea wouldn't even glance at him."

Ivy looked at her in surprise.

Emmalie continued, lowering her voice, "I think someone else is involved. Didn't Jake say he had to leave halfway? Maybe this guy called him away."

Ivy pieced it together, stepping forward and kicking the man hard in the shin with her heel. "You think you can involve my daughter? Who do you think you are?"

Terror filled the man's eyes. 'This isn't going as planned!' he thought. He resorted to his backup plan, dropping to his knees. "It's my fault! I had no choice. Someone threatened my family and offered me a large sum of money. I didn't plan to hurt Miss Rowland. I just wanted to take some photos and videos that could be misinterpreted. It's all my fault. I deserve to be punished."

Ivy took a deep breath and smiled warmly at Thea. "Thea, I misunderstood you. Don't worry. I'll find out who is behind this and will never let you be wronged again."

Thea smiled back. "Mom, the bullying is resolved, but the drugging hasn't been addressed. Let's investigate further. Let's find out if he's the one who drugged me. Don't end this so quickly. I think there are still outsiders involved." Thea emphasized "outsiders," causing Emmalie to visibly react.

The man shook his head vehemently. "No, no, no! What do you mean by drugging? I don't know anything about that! I was just asked to take pictures. The person gave me a map of the Rowland family. I never met the person, and I don't even know if the person is part of…"

Thea feigned surprise. "The person gave you a map? That makes it even less likely it's an outsider."

Ivy thought, 'Could there be an insider problem?'

Emmalie swayed, looking weak. Ivy rushed to support her. "Emmalie, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Emmalie gasped, speaking with effort, "I've been preparing for Max's birthday party and haven't rested. It's okay, Mom. Handle Thea first. I'll be fine after I rest."

Ivy refused. "How can that be? You're frail. I'll take you to the hospital. Max will handle the rest."

Emmalie nodded, then turned to Thea. "Thea, Mom will accompany me to the hospital. Will you be unhappy?"

Thea blocked them. "Wait! Who says this matter is resolved? Just now, Emmalie was fine, but the moment I mentioned an insider, you got sick. What a coincidence!"

The comments section exploded with divided opinions. Some doubted Thea's accusations, while others angrily condemned her.

Tears streamed down Emmalie's face as she leaned against Ivy, appearing weak and helpless. "Thea, I really don't know how I've offended you. I know you've never liked me, but there's no need to target me like this."

Thea blinked. "Why are you so agitated? I'm just saying the matter isn't clear yet, and Mom needs to stay here. I didn't say you couldn't see a doctor. Actually, I've known for a while you might fall ill, considering you're so frail." Thea intentionally emphasized Emmalie's frailty.

Before Emmalie could speak, Thea continued, "So I prepared a doctor beforehand, just outside the door. Let the doctor take a look at you. If there's anything wrong, they can prescribe medicine. If it's serious, we can send you to the hospital. We shouldn't rush."

A cold glimmer flickered in Emmalie's eyes. Ivy, feeling sorry for Emmalie, said, "She's right. Let the doctor take a look first, and if they can't solve it, then we'll go to the hospital. This back-and-forth is only making you worse."

Emmalie laughed, her tone sharp. "Forget it. With Thea hating me like this, I don't dare to use the doctor she brings."

Thea responded sadly, "We're family. Why bring up hate? I may have conflicts with you, but you are my sister. How could I harm you? Is this really how you see me?"
