Chapter 335: Wonโ€™t You Have Nightmares Using That?

I hadnโ€™t planned to reveal everything so soon. I intended to wait until Anna was present to explain everything. But with the Sanders and Boltons suffering casualties, and the organization behind Anna also gaining nothing, there was no reason to wait any longer.

Josh slumped weakly on the couch, nearly falling off. Luckily, Greg quickly stepped in to support him. Just then, Kate came down the stairs, looking sad.

โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€

After taking a moment to rest, she seemed less frantic, though still exhausted.

โ€œMom, itโ€™s nothing. You should go back to your room and rest,โ€ Greg said quickly.

But she hurried down the stairs, grabbing the report from his hands. As she read it, her face showed shock and disbelief. Tears began to fall from her reddened eyes, landing on the paper. With a scream, she collapsed onto the floor, clutching the report to her chest. โ€œHow could this happen? Anna isnโ€™t realโ€”then where is my daughter? What did we do to Chloe?โ€

Josh covered his head with his hands in distress. โ€œSo, Momโ€™s sudden hospital visit was related to this too? I shouldโ€™ve figured it out sooner. That day she called me, I was too busy to talk, and I hung up on her. She must have wanted to tell me the truth. It was Annaโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYes, it was all Anna. She and Sheila are part of the same group, targeting the Sanders and the Boltons. Anna got close to Luke to cause the rift between you and Chloe.โ€

โ€œDue to your indifference, Chloeโ€™s death wasnโ€™t reported right away. After a month, all the evidence was wiped clean, making her death a mystery. Anna then went after other members of the Sanders, orchestrating the deaths of Ethan and Jake and even the accident that nearly killed your whole family.โ€

I spoke coldly, each word adding to their pain. Kate slapped her face in regret.

โ€œItโ€™s my fault! I killed my daughter!โ€ She cried, heartbroken. โ€œShe warned us about Anna, but we didnโ€™t listen. We gave all our attention to Anna and ignored Chloe. If she can see us now, she must be so disappointed in us.โ€

It wasnโ€™t just disappointment; it was hopelessness. At that time, I could only watch from another space, helpless to change anything.

โ€œMrs. Sander, the past is done. Ms. Sander is gone. What matters now is working together. This organization is targeting both the Sanders and the Boltons,โ€ I said, trying to focus them on the present.

Josh glanced at me. Despite the sorrow in his eyes, there was a glimmer of clarity. โ€œHow do you suggest we cooperate?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ve gathered some information. This impostor Anna has ties to the Sanders. If we start looking into your enemies, we might find some clues.โ€

Josh rubbed his temples. โ€œHow could we not have seen this? It's more than just business rivalry. To orchestrate something this elaborateโ€ฆ itโ€™s a hatred thatโ€™s been brewing for years. Think carefullyโ€ฆ do you associate the name Carlyn with this?โ€

โ€œThe Carlyns!โ€

โ€œYes. Think in that direction. If you have any leads, please let me know.โ€

Josh shook his head. โ€œI know plenty of people who dislike me, but none who would want to kill my whole family.โ€

โ€œCould it be someone from the era of Mrs. Penelope?โ€

โ€œThere are plenty of those.โ€ Josh sighed. โ€œBack when the country was just starting, people would do anything to get ahead. My mother was involved in both the government and the underground. She was powerful, and while many feared us, just as many hated us.โ€

I hoped heโ€™d come up with something, but he didnโ€™t.

โ€œItโ€™s okay. Take your time to think it through. Write down anyone suspicious, especially those with the name Carlyn.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

Just then, a maid entered with a bowl of milk. โ€œMrs. Sander, hereโ€™s your milk.โ€

Kate took the bowl, her face filled with sorrow, and absentmindedly scooped up a spoonful.

I said casually, โ€œMrs. Sander, arenโ€™t you worried about having nightmares using that bowl every day?โ€ Everyone froze, staring at me, confused. โ€œDid Anna poison it?โ€ someone asked.

Given Annaโ€™s history, the idea of poison wasnโ€™t far-fetched. But I shook my head gently. โ€œNo, itโ€™s not poisoned.โ€

Kate sighed in relief. โ€œOh, thank goodness. You scared me.โ€

I then added nonchalantly, โ€œItโ€™s just that there are your daughterโ€™s ashes in the bowl.โ€

Kate screamed, dropping the bowl. Josh became serious. โ€œMrs. Bolton, are you sure?โ€

No one knew better than me. I nodded calmly. โ€œYes, Iโ€™m sure. Anna made a human-skin bible out of Chloeโ€™s skin and used her ashes for bowls and plates. She also made a beaded bracelet from her bones. As for her flesh, it was ground up and hidden in statues, and her corneas were used in wax figures. Her organs may even be hidden somewhereโ€ฆโ€

Before I could finish, Kate rushed to the bathroom, red-faced. Josh, who had only seemed teary before, now couldnโ€™t contain himself.

โ€œChloeโ€ฆ you died so horribly!โ€
