Chapter 83  The Kennedy family wasn’t quite in the name league as the Reyes family, so everyone had to tiptoe around Chase’s moods. When he got upset, the room fell silent. All eyes were on him. “Hey, what’s up with you, Chase?” someone asked.  Chase’s voice shook, his eyes watering. “Armanda might be in trouble.”  “In trouble? What could have happened? She’s probably just with a friend,” someone suggested, trying to keep things light  “Ive looked everywhem, and there’s no trace of her Mom, there’ve been quite a few women going missing lately. Amanda mentioned that someone had been following her before she disappeared. The last call I got from her was a plea for help, but I thought she was Just messing around. Now look where we are. “  Mom’s usual calm was gone. “What’s happened to Amanda?” she asked, fear creeping in.  “She’s been kidnapped and trafficked to a place called Shadowmoor.”  Ne sound of a fork clattering to the floor broke the silence. “No way. How could this happen? Chase, are you sure?”  “I wish I were wrong, Mom, but it’s been over twenty days with no word. If something had happened to her, the police would have told us by now. She’s alive, but someone’s taken her. I had to let you all know.”  I kept my eyes on my family, wondering how they’d handle the news,  Mom started pacing, her voice a mix of anger and worry. “That silly girl. Why did she wander off for no reason? Now she’s been taken, and we’re left to pick up the pieces. What kind of place is Shadowmoor? Once you’re in, you’re not getting out…  Her voice trailed off into sobs. “Oh, what are we going to do?”  Dad wrapped his arms around her. “Let’s not panic. We don’t know for sure if Amanda’s there. Chase, how solid is your info?” “Things in Shadowmoor are pretty chaotic right now, I talked to someone in the know. I haven’t seen Amanda, but a woman who matches her description, down to an injury she had and the tear in her wedding dress, was mentioned. It’s likely her  Oh, my poor daughter… we need to get to Shadowmoor, and fast,” Mom insisted.  “Let’s take a breath first. Shadowmoor’s in a mess right now. We need to plan this out,” Dad said, trying to keep things steady. “I know someone over there. I’ll get in touch and line up some help.  “Dad, we should all go. No matter what Amanda did, she’s still family. We can’t leave her there,” Ricky said. “No, Ricky, Andrew, you two need to stay. The company can’t run itself.” Dad turned to Chase “Chase, you’re c Chase hesitated for a moment. “Dad, I…”  coming with me.”  “I get it. If Amanda’s really in Shadowmoor, this could tarnish the Reyes family’s name. Derek’s been stirring things up, but remember that Amanda’s your granddad’s favorite. If you don’t go, this wouldn’t look good. If word gets out, do you want people calling you a coward?”  “Dad, I’ll go!”  “Okay, get packed. We’re heading to Shadowmoor tonight to bring Amanda home.”  Chapter 84  Chapter 84
