Chapter 155

Joanna gritted her teeth and silently asked Sophia, "Mom, when do we move?"

Sophia cautiously shook her head and glanced around. She'd already arranged to block the elevator to the top floor, preventing anyone from ascending. However, to fully defeat Yvonne, meticulous planning was crucial.

Joanna's impatience grew. Grabbing Sophia's hand, her eyes blazed. Surprised by Joanna's urgency, Sophia typed a message on her phone, handed it to Joanna, and said, "I'll go first; you find an opportunity later."

Joanna hesitated, but Sophia restrained her. The rooftop wind intensified, growing colder. I tightened my collar, pushed aside childhood memories, and asked directly, "Dad, what exactly did Mom leave me?"

Yosef, having exhausted his emotional ploys, could stall no longer. Panic etched itself onto his face. My brows furrowed, sensing deception.

"Are you lying? You deliberately brought me to the rooftop. What are you trying to do?" I demanded, stepping back instinctively, seeking distance. He, once my source of life and security, now terrified me. Unspeakable fear gripped my heart.

Yosef's face hardened as he realized I'd seen through him. He rose anxiously. "Yvonne, what have you done to the company? Return it to me!"

"Is this about the company?" I asked intently.

Before Yosef could answer, Sophia emerged from behind a flower bed. "Honey, she sold your company long ago! I heard she got 800 million, and the money's already hers!"

"What?" Yosef stared at her, then at me, incredulous. "It's worth that much?"

I narrowed my eyes, scrutinizing Sophia and her concealed position. The rooftop garden, intended to please guests, had unwittingly provided Sophia a hiding place. With everyone present, I decided to resolve everything at once.

"Well-informed," I scoffed.

"Really worth that much?" Yosef's initial shock gave way to grasping my hand. "The money's in your account? Yvonne, that's my money too! I'm your father!"

Sophia sneered. "You expect her to give you the money? She embezzled it! Yvonne, I won't let you keep it! Hand it over, and your father and I will drop this!"

"Drop it? The Jackson Group sale was legal and compliant. What concerns you? As for your shares, someone will compensate you." I'd already prepared funds for Yosef's shares.

"Really?" Yosef asked, his anger subsiding.

Sophia remained intractable. "How much? Do you want all 800 million? You ungrateful wretch! Is this how you repay your father?"

I frowned, retorting sharply, "What right do you have to interfere? Tell my father how you drove my mother to her death!"

"Don't talk nonsense!" Sophia retorted anxiously.

Yosef, however, had overheard. His eyes widened. "Sophia… is what Yvonne said true? What did you do to Sienna?"

Sophia glared, a flicker of guilt momentarily visible before she masked it. "I did nothing! I sent her photos of us. That woman was fragile. What could I do when she jumped?" Disgust filled her face.

I exploded. "If you hadn't sent those photos and tormented her, she wouldn't have died!"

"And you? Where were you? You were abroad with a man… Had you been with Mother, would she have jumped?" Sophia countered, shifting the blame.

This was my deepest regret, my life's greatest pain. She'd found my Achilles' heel, draining the color from my face. Had I been there, Mother would have had support; she wouldn't have jumped. It's all my fault. I killed my mother! I thought.

A powerful force shoved me from the right. Off-balance, I stumbled toward the railing. As I tried to regain my footing, the force returned, forcing me over the railing. My feet dangled; I was about to fall seven stories. I clung to the railing, crying for help, "Help… help me!"

"Yvonne!" Yosef rushed to my side, attempting to pull me up.

But Sophia intervened. "Yosef! Let go! She sold your company!" "But… Yvonne is my daughter! She'll die!" Yosef cried, his blood finally overcoming his hatred.

"If she dies, you get your company back! And 800 million! And I'll give you a son!"

Sophia's offer proved too tempting. Yosef released my hand. My grip weakened; death approached. Human nature stood revealed: my father had abandoned me for 800 million and a son.

Yosef collapsed, confronting his own ruthlessness. He'd allowed Sienna's suicide; now, he'd sacrifice his daughter. What kind of person am I? he wondered, horrified. He recoiled from my clinging hands, as if they mocked him. He stumbled back, his foot touching something. He looked up, seeing Joanna, stiff and expressionless. He remembered her sudden push. "It was you! You pushed Yvonne!" he exclaimed.
