Listen to this chapter:

I looked up, seeing the secretary holding a box of clothes. I’d almost forgotten about the auction at Wavepeak Stadium this afternoon.

Dylan smiled and said, “You go ahead and handle that. I’ll pick up Waylon and take him home.”

“Alright,” I nodded, watching him leave before admitting the stylist.

“What kind of look would you like, Chairman?” the stylist asked, smiling.

I fixed my gaze on her with a touch of ruthlessness, curling my lips into a slight smirk. “I want to dazzle everyone.”

At the Wavepeak Stadium auction, the land up for bid exemplified government-business collaboration. The winner wouldn't just acquire a profitable venture; they'd also forge connections with high-ranking officials, making future development in Elysiumville unstoppable. Not only local businessmen, but even those from neighboring cities had arrived.

“That land is truly a gem. I wonder who’ll get it.”

“Who else could outbid the Parker family? The Parker Group is definitely going to win.”

“Really? I was hoping for a chance.”

“Forget it. Our goal is networking. Just being here is a win.”

A group of people gossiped at the entrance, joking that even without the land, meeting influential figures would be worthwhile. Yasir and Lucy overheard. They exchanged a glance and smiled.

“Not planning to bid?” Lucy teased.

“Nah, our family doesn’t do construction. Better to leave it to the experts. Besides, who dares compete with Hayden? You know how rich he is,” Yasir shrugged, grinning. He was here to watch the show. “By the way, have you heard about Jethive Group? They’re here. I’m curious about their female CEO.”

“Female CEO!” Lucy raised an eyebrow. “Is she pretty?”

A woman in love tends to be possessive, and Lucy was immediately alert.

“How would I know? I’ve never seen her,” Yasir shrugged, oblivious to Lucy’s growing suspicion.

Lucy pouted. “Sounds like you’re eager to meet her.”

“Of course! Without her, I wouldn’t be here. I’ve heard Jethive Group started abroad and in just three years, took over Microsunland’s market. It’s legendary,” Yasir continued, his tone full of admiration.

Lucy’s face darkened, her jealousy simmering. She ground her heel into Yasir’s foot.

“Ow!” Yasir howled, clutching his foot.

Lucy, ignoring him, marched into the auction hall.

“Lucy, you…” Yasir tried to stop her, but the pain prevented him from chasing after her. He hopped on one foot, holding onto the wall.

Just then, Nevin walked in and saw Yasir, his face contorted in pain. He laughed. “Well well, you’re blushing. What’s the occasion?”

Yasir glared. “Shut up.”

“Only Hayden can make me shut up. Not you,” Nevin smirked, shaking his finger.

Yasir looked up and saw Hayden entering. Desperately, he cried, “Nevin’s bullying me!”

Hayden glanced at him, then turned away without a word. Yasir froze, speechless.

Nevin burst out laughing. “I told you…”

Before he finished, Yasir stomped on his foot.

“Ow!” Nevin yelped.

Yasir limped forward, smirking, while Nevin winced and pounded the wall. Damn Yasir. He would get him back.

Yasir caught up with Hayden and, gritting his teeth, said, “We’re brothers, and you just walked away? No loyalty.”

Hayden gave him a sidelong glance. “I sent an invitation to the Jethive CEO. She refused to meet.”

“Speak of the devil,” Dylan glanced at me, bemused.

“Tell Mr. Parker I’ll visit when I have time,” I replied nonchalantly, my gaze emotionless.

The secretary blinked, quickly nodding. “Understood.”

Once she left, Dylan turned back. “Are you really going to meet him?”

“Of course,” I smirked slightly. “Though I doubt he’ll be brave enough.”

Dylan’s gaze hardened, but he didn’t press. He sighed. “I checked—Joanna’s a reporter. Your dad got money, started a new company; it’s doing well. Oh, and Sophia gave birth.”

My eyes froze for a second before I scoffed. “Didn’t expect her to become a reporter.”

“Apparently, a chief editor liked her. She’s risen fast, gaining fame,” Dylan replied.

“What about her and Lucy? Still in touch?” I asked.

Dylan shook his head. “Hard to get personal details quickly, but I’ll try.”

“Alright,” I muttered, sitting back, my expression hardening.

Silence fell. Then, Dylan moved closer. “You didn’t mention your dad. What about his son…?”

“I don’t want to know,” I interrupted, furrowing my brows. Yosef had long ceased to be a part of my life.

Dylan sighed. “You care more than you let on, don’t you? But understanding them is key to winning. Sophia’s son was born with congenital issues. He spends more than half his time in the hospital, and might need a bone marrow transplant.”

I couldn’t pretend I didn’t know.

“Is it that serious?”

“That’s what I heard. I checked with a doctor friend—he said without a transplant, the child won’t last much longer,” Dylan explained.

I gritted my teeth. Yosef had been so desperate for a son, willing to divorce my mother and even sacrifice my life… And now, after finally having a son…

No matter what, the child was innocent.

“Did Joanna and Quinn try to donate?” I asked.

“No match,” Dylan shrugged, his voice laced with helplessness. “Family members didn’t match either. Bad luck.”

The secretary knocked. “Chairman, the stylist has arrived.”
