Chapter 22

"Laura Jones is so cruel!" Lena exclaimed angrily, watching Laura and Alan depart. She then looked at Cameron with a surprised expression.

"But I didn't expect you to have this kind of relationship with Laura!"

He smiled bitterly, shaking his head. "Colonel Bailey, please stop teasing me."

Lena sighed. "Okay, then. I also didn't expect you to say that in front of Alan. Do you know who he is?"

Compared to Alan, Cameron's background paled in significance. Cameron didn't know Alan well.

"What's his identity?"

"He's the deputy general of the Leving First Military Region. He's from the Xander family. You've probably heard of them. If not, it's enough to know that his grandfather, Thomas Xander, is the current commander of the Leving Military Region!"

"So he's from the Leving Military Region," Cameron murmured, his eyes twitching slightly. It was no surprise Laura chose Alan.

"Don't be discouraged," Lena said. "It's no shame to lose to Alan. His background is beyond the reach of ordinary people." She patted his shoulder comfortingly.

He gave a wry smile. "Colonel Bailey, your words weren't very comforting."

Lena seemed to realize her bluntness would only worsen his sorrow. "Okay, let's forget this. Let's talk about you." She waved awkwardly, then her expression turned serious.

"Me?" He was stunned by her solemn demeanor.

She said gravely, "You've offended Alan. I'm afraid he won't let you go easily."

Chapter continued

"You mean he might take revenge?"

Cameron responded calmly, "It doesn't matter." He saw this as an opportunity to deal with Alan for the earlier incident.

"Don't be so brave!" Lena shook her head, anticipating his response. "If Alan tries to cause trouble, call me. He won't do anything with me around."

"Colonel Bailey, aren't you afraid of offending him to help me?" Cameron was touched by her willingness to help.

"What am I afraid of? Don't forget I'm also from the military region. If I were his age, I'd already be a general!" Lena raised her chin confidently. Her grandfather was the deputy commander of the military region. Their shared military backgrounds would deter Alan.

"Colonel Bailey, thank you." Cameron smiled gently, accepting her kindness, though he felt he could handle Alan himself.

"Okay, that's all. I won't take up more of your time. Get some rest, adjust your mood, and focus on the future. Besides, you have Ms. Jennings." Lena dusted off her hands, smiled at Cameron and Dakota, and left, not wanting to intrude.

Dakota blushed slightly. Turning to Cameron, she softly said, "Cameron, I'll take you back."

He remained where he stood. She hesitated. "Are you still thinking about Ms. Jones?"
