Chapter 235

Madison's gaze, filled with anger and disbelief, rested on Cameron. Could this be the same man who had lived off her for five years like a parasite? She suspected he’d won Laura’s favor and grown arrogant, believing himself superior. Yes, that had to be it.

She couldn't believe that Cameron, a man she considered a loser, had the audacity to treat her this way. Humiliation and rage consumed her, sending her into a frenzy.

Her eyes reddened. Standing, she screamed at him, "Remember this—a loser will always be a loser! Even if you're lucky enough to be favored by Ms. Jones and rise above your station, you can't change that fact!"

"Are you done?" Cameron's gaze was cold. Her words were meaningless to him, stirring no emotion.

"What, did I strike a nerve? Embarrassed now?" Madison sneered. "So, the loser who never cared about his dignity during five years of marriage suddenly cares? Someone like you only deserves people like Dakota."

Cameron's expression darkened. He slapped her again, sending her staggering backward. Her head hit the wall with a thud, causing sharp pain.

She snapped. Grabbing a fruit knife from the kitchen, she lunged at Cameron. "I'll kill you and that bitch!"

Her eyes were bloodshot. Never before so humiliated, she was determined to kill Cameron and Dakota. Seeing the knife aimed at his chest, Cameron felt a surge of murderous intent. He snatched the knife and, to her disbelief, stabbed toward her forehead.

Madison's face paled with terror.

"No, Cameron!" Dakota cried, fearing his crime.

Cameron's eyes flickered. He threw the knife. It whizzed past Madison's cheek, embedding itself in the wall. A thin cut appeared on her cheek, seeping blood.

Madison trembled, sliding down the wall to the floor. Her legs gave way. For a moment, she felt the brush of death.

Dakota's eyes shook violently, but relief washed over her that he hadn't killed Madison. She didn't want him to break the law for her.

He walked to the bed, picked up Dakota—her gaze trembling—and walked out. Passing Madison, his expression remained cold and indifferent.

Madison shivered, watching his retreating figure disappear. The killing intent she had witnessed sent a shiver of fear through her. In that moment, she finally realized she had been wrong about him all these years.
