Chapter 257

“Grandpa!”

In the ward, Tara stamped her foot in frustration, blushing furiously. She felt it unfair that her grandfather would side with an outsider over his own granddaughter.

“Haha, I was just joking,” Dylan chuckled, seeing his granddaughter’s anxious expression. He turned to Cameron. “Young man, please don’t take it to heart.”

Cameron, relieved it was a joke, smiled warmly. “Mr. Smith, I understand. Please lie down, and I’ll begin the treatment.”

“Alright then,” Dylan agreed. Watching Tara’s still-flushed cheeks, he regretted his comment. He’d made it to gauge Tara’s reaction to Cameron. Tara’s aversion to men wasn’t innate; it developed during her university years, stemming from a past experience. As her grandfather, Dylan longed for her to return to her former cheerful self, to overcome her tendency to keep men at a distance despite her warm demeanor.

Tara seemed to understand her grandfather’s intentions and wasn’t truly upset. Opening up to men again was simply difficult for her.

“I’m going to begin now,” Cameron announced, unaware of the underlying tension. He took eight prepared acupuncture needles from his bag.

“Go ahead,” Dylan nodded.

Cameron prepared himself, channeled his energy, and skillfully inserted the needles into specific acupoints on Dylan’s body.

As the needles pierced his skin, Dylan felt a burning sensation, like a flame igniting within him. The initial pain quickly subsided, replaced by a warm flow that surprised and comforted him.

Cameron focused intently, pouring more energy into the treatment, sweat beading on his forehead. The process appeared simple but demanded intense concentration.

Tara watched, moved by Cameron’s dedication and his evident care for her grandfather.

After ten minutes, Cameron withdrew the needles and exhaled deeply. “All done, Mr. Smith.”

“Here’s a towel, Cameron,” Tara quickly offered.

“Thank you,” Cameron said gently, wiping the sweat from his brow.

“Mr. Smith, you can get up and move around now. Let’s see how you feel,” Cameron suggested, setting the towel aside.

“Sure!” Dylan laughed, feeling revitalized. He stood from the bed unassisted for the first time since falling ill.

“Grandpa, how do you feel?” Tara asked, concerned.

“I haven’t felt this refreshed in a long time!” Dylan beamed. His condition had improved significantly.

“What technique did you use, Cameron? It’s miraculous,” Dylan asked in amazement. [Remove the promotional text here]

“It’s a standard technique, but the stimulated acupoints were special. I learned it from a master,” Cameron explained.

“Indeed, a great teacher produces a great student!” Dylan praised. He saw in Cameron a humble yet skilled young man with limitless potential.

“Mr. Smith, please rest now. I’ll return in a week for another session. After that, you should be ready for discharge. A couple more treatments should fully cure you,” Cameron said, pleased with Dylan’s progress.

“Great! Tara, see Cameron out for me!” Dylan exclaimed, thrilled.

“Okay, Grandpa,” Tara said, her gaze softening toward Cameron.

“Let’s go, Cameron,” Tara said with a smile.

“No need, Dr. Smith. I can find my way back. Spend more time with your grandpa,” Cameron insisted.

“But you’ve come all this way. It wouldn’t be right to let you go alone. Besides, I was about to go to the supermarket for groceries,” Tara explained.

“Okay then. We’ll go together,” Cameron chuckled.

“Alright,” Tara said, her usual exuberance replaced by a more reserved demeanor.

“Dr. Smith, let’s go. Mr. Smith, see you later,” Cameron said casually.

He waved goodbye to Dylan before leaving the ward with Tara. As they neared the end of the corridor, a plea from a nearby ward made them pause.

“Doctor, please! I beg you, save my mother! I’m begging you!”

The voice, filled with desperate sorrow, was familiar. Cameron frowned, wondering if it could be Madison.
