Chapter 260
"Handsome, was that your ex-wife just now?" Tara asked, watching Cameron with interest at the hospital entrance.
"Yes," Cameron replied calmly, nodding.
"I didn't expect that. After how your ex-wife treated you, you still chose to help her," Tara said, intrigued.
"How do you know about our past?" Cameron's expression shifted slightly. He'd met Tara after his divorce from Madison, and wondered how she knew.
"Leni told me," Tara explained. "She painted a pretty grim picture, saying your ex-wife cheated on you."
"Heh, I really should thank her, then," Cameron said, his lips trembling slightly.
"I'll pass that message along to Leni," Tara chuckled mischievously.
"Better not" Cameron quickly interjected. He feared Leni's reaction if she knew he'd spoken ill of her. He imagined she might come after him with a 100-foot-long sword, given her temper.
"What, are you afraid of her?" Tara asked, looking directly at him.
"Not exactly. I just find it bothersome," Cameron explained.
"Do you like her?" Tara pressed.
"Why are you suddenly asking this?" Cameron was caught off guard, looking at Tara with surprise.
"Just curious. Leni seems to have a good impression of you," Tara said, pushing the matter gently.
"Does she like me? That's impossible. Don't make wild guesses" Cameron shook his head in disbelief.
"Well, it's a pity You already have a girlfriend. But it's normal for an outstanding man to have three or four wives, right?" Tara teased.
"Dr. Smith, please don't tease me like this," Cameron laughed. "Alright, this is as far as you need to go."
"That won't do!" Tara refused. "You've helped me so much. I must at least treat you to a meal today."
"Treat me to a meal?" Cameron was surprised by the sudden invitation.
"Yes," Tara nodded. "Ehainian or Lammarian, your choice."
Cameron was about to decline, but Tara's pleading gaze stopped him. "We don't have to go for a meal. It's unnecessary" he began, but then continued, "Cameron, you won't refuse me, right? Besides, I have some details about my grandfather's condition I'd like to discuss with you."
"Uh Alright then, but something casual will do," Cameron agreed, not wanting to refuse her kindness.
"Great!" Tara smiled. "Let's go to Southern Breeze Eatery, then. Their Lunarian dishes are authentic. It'll be perfect. I can drop you off afterward and then go grocery shopping."
"Okay," Cameron replied, following Tara to her white Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Tara's curiosity continued during the drive. "Cameron, can you tell me how you met Leni?"
"It was during an emergency."
"An emergency? You helped Leni solve a case?" Tara was surprised.
"Sort of."
"I didn't expect that. Apart from being skilled in medicine, you can deal with cases too. Your ex-wife made a huge loss by divorcing you!" Tara clicked her tongue. "But it's surprising, given how your ex-wife treated you, that you'd still help her."
"When it's a matter of life and death, I think most people wouldn't stand by idly," Cameron responded.
Tara was touched, her admiration for him growing. She had more questions to ask, but at that moment, a text message notification sounded from Cameron's phone. It was from Lord Blackheart.
Cameron opened the message. His expression immediately became intensely focused. The message read: "Sir, I've found some clues regarding your mother from years ago. Are you available to talk on the phone now?"
