Chapter 297
“Dr. Stone, how is Kelvin?” Max asked expectantly, watching Eric Stone emerge from the villa’s inner courtyard. The Zimmers behind him remained silent.
“Mr. Zimmer Senior, I saved Mr. Kelvin’s life, and he’s awake. But…” Eric paused.
“But what?” Max’s nervousness was palpable.
“He’s seriously injured and will be infertile.”
“Ah! Kelvin!” Max reeled, nearly falling. The others rushed to support him.
“Get out of my way!” he barked, pushing them aside. His expression was somber and terrifying. Cameron had destroyed the Zimmers’ bloodline.
“Sorry, Mr. Zimmer Senior. I did my best,” Eric said, trembling.
“Dr. Stone, you did your best. Rest now,” Max said, his rage simmering.
“Yes, Mr. Zimmer Senior,” Eric replied, quickly departing.
Silence fell among the Zimmers. No one dared offer comfort.
“Mr. Zimmer Senior, General Tucker has arrived!” A servant announced, breaking the heavy silence.
Composing himself, Max declared, “Let’s meet General Tucker at the door!”
“Mr. Zimmer Senior, no need. I’m already here.”
A booming voice cut through the air. A tall, burly middle-aged man in military uniform strode into the courtyard. Roger Tucker, General of the Capital Military Region, exuded power and authority. Two colonel-ranked soldiers followed him.
“Roger!” Max exclaimed, relieved. “You’re finally here!”
“Hello, Mr. Zimmer Senior,” Roger greeted.
“Roger, it’s been months! You look even more heroic. But how did you get past the Black Flag Army?” Max questioned.
“The Black Flag Army? I suppressed them,” Roger said proudly.
“That’s great!” Max’s eyes shone. Their savior had arrived. The Zimmers erupted in excited shouts.
“Haha, it was nothing,” Roger chuckled. “Where are Juliet and Kelvin?”
“Juliet’s with Kelvin inside. He…” Max paused, his anger resurfacing. “Roger, you should see Kelvin for yourself.”
Roger sensed something was amiss. He took a deep breath. “Let’s go in.”
He and his men entered the room, finding Kelvin lying weakly on the bed. While Eric’s efforts had saved his life, and he was awake, Kelvin had been emasculated. His eyes were lifeless. Juliet sat beside him, her eyes red and swollen from crying. Seeing Roger, she wept, “Roger, you’re finally here! Avenge Kelvin!”
