Chapter 50
After Gerald finished speaking with me, he took a phone call and left. I had barely reached the vice chairman’s office and hadn’t even had a chance to sit down when I heard the clicking sound of high heels behind me. Ranguelle walked into my office, clearly accustomed to entering without knocking. She looked at me with an air of superiority, her eyes full of mockery and disdain.
“Joshua, how comfortable is that vice chairman’s seat? You kept saying you didn’t want this position, yet here you are, shamelessly sitting in it. People like you are full of lies and hypocrisy. Why don’t you just go?”
She pointed at me and shouted, her voice full of unrestrained anger and insults. It was as if she came here intentionally, just to make her presence felt, glowering at me with fury and cursing incessantly.
I looked at her calmly and asked, “Is there something you need?”
Already brimming with rage, my question only fueled Quelle’s anger, and she stamped her foot in frustration. Does it matter if I have business to attend to or not? My biggest concern here is…
In the past, I wouldn’t have retaliated when she treated me this way. After all, I knew my sister’s life was in the hands of the Sith family. But things were different now; Gerald wanted me to marry her. So, he had given me great advantages and authority in the company, second only to his own.
Now, I wasn’t just Racquelle’s brother; I was also her direct superior. I had more than enough of her constant harassment and her attempts to let things slide.
With a cold expression, I said, “Get out.”
Racquelle, who had been standing smugly with her arms crossed, froze at my words. “You’re telling me to get out?”
She pointed at herself in disbelief and roared, “This is my family’s company! If anyone’s leaving, it will be you! I’m the one who gives orders here, not you!”
She was furious, stomping in frustration. She couldn’t stand the fact that I, whom she had always treated like a dog, dared to challenge her authority. Consumed by anger, she raised her hand to slap me. However, I grabbed her wrist, preventing the blow from landing.
“How dare you fight back?” She glared at me in shock, cursing in a fury. “Let go, you bastard!”
I looked at her calmly and said, enunciating each word, “Ms. Smith, you have no authority to give me orders. This is the office the chairman himself assigned to me. You’re my subordinate now.”
“Don’t you think it’s highly inappropriate for a supervisor to storm into the vice chairman’s office and create a scene?”
I finished speaking with an even tone and pushed her away. Racquelle stumbled, her face turning bright red with anger. Enraged, she grabbed a stack of documents from the desk and tore them to shreds. Then, she swept everything off the desk, throwing it all onto the floor.
“Vice chairman, fine! Let’s see how you hold that title!”
Filled with fury, she destroyed everything in my office. She even smashed the computer onto the floor.
“Who knows what kind of spell you’ve cast on my dad to make him promote you to be the vice chairman! You’ll never get me to obey you!”
A series of smashing sounds echoed in the room, deafeningly loud. I watched her calmly. All of these things belonged to the Smith family. Even if she tore down the entire building, it wouldn’t affect me in the slightest.
I didn’t even need to bring this up to Gerald. I just had to inform management, and the place would be restored to its original state within three days. Knowing how indulgent Gerald was toward Racquelle, this wasn’t even a problem.
After venting her anger, she seemed somewhat satisfied. She looked at me arrogantly, like a proud peacock. “Joshua, you’re nothing more than a dog who deserves to work in a kennel!”
