Listen to this chapter:

He didnโ€™t respond immediately. Instead, he walked to the bed and slowly sat down, his eyes never leaving mine. The tension was palpable; his presence intense, but different from before. It wasn't rage, but something deeperโ€”calculated, almost determined.

โ€œIโ€™m going to help you,โ€ he finally said, his voice low but audible. โ€œAnd in return, youโ€™ll help me.โ€

I blinked. โ€œHelp you? With what?โ€

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. โ€œThey might be my nephews, but that doesnโ€™t mean they get a free pass. They need to learn that actions have consequences.โ€

My throat tightened. He still hadnโ€™t answered my question.

โ€œAlpha Damienโ€ฆ Iโ€™m confusedโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to be,โ€ he cut me off, pausing. โ€œWe will make the triplets feel a fraction of what you felt when they were with her.โ€

I frowned, trying to understand.

โ€œMeaning?โ€ I asked, raising an eyebrow.

โ€œMeaning you are going to fake date me,โ€ he responded casually, and my eyes widened. โ€œFor the next two months, Iโ€™ll act like I desperately want you. Like I want you to bear my heir. And youโ€ฆ youโ€™ll act hesitant at first, but eventually, youโ€™ll give in.โ€

I swallowed hard. So that was his plan? He didnโ€™t actually want me to carry his child? A part of me was relieved, but another, ridiculous part felt disappointed.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t just about making them jealous. This is about making them pay,โ€ he continued. โ€œTheyโ€™ll get a tasteโ€”just a dropโ€”of the pain you felt.โ€

I stared at him, struggling to comprehend.

โ€œFake date you?โ€ I repeated slowly. โ€œYou want me to act like Iโ€™m falling for youโ€ฆ like I want to carry your heir?โ€

Alpha Damienโ€™s gaze was steady. โ€œYes.โ€

I shook my head, still absorbing his words. โ€œAnd thatโ€™s supposed toโ€ฆ teach them a lesson?โ€

He leaned back, his expression hardening. โ€œI want them to feel the regret theyโ€™ve buried under arrogance and pride. I want them to burn from the inside out.โ€

I inhaled sharply, my heart pounding. โ€œSo what exactly do you want from me, Alpha Damien? What do you mean when you say Iโ€™ll help you?โ€

He stood and slowly closed the distance between us. โ€œAnd in return,โ€ he said, his voice even lower, โ€œin two months, weโ€™ll let the rumor spreadโ€ฆ that youโ€™re pregnant with my child.โ€

My breath caught.

โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œItโ€™ll be fake, of course,โ€ he added quickly, noticing my alarm. โ€œJust a plot to lure her out of wherever she is.โ€ My frown deepened. Lure her out? What did that even mean? Who were we luring out?

โ€œI donโ€™t understand what you are sayingโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to understand,โ€ he said, shaking his head. โ€œJust follow my lead. Weโ€™ll make the triplets pay, and then youโ€™ll repay meโ€”by pretending to be pregnant. Iโ€™ll handle the rumors.โ€

My frown deepened. I shook my head. โ€œI canโ€™tโ€ฆ yes, I want revenge on the tripletsโ€ฆ I want them to feel my pain when they were with Anita, but if Iโ€™m doing that, itโ€™s definitely with another man, not their uncle.โ€

I held his gaze firmly.

โ€œIโ€™m already labeled a thiefโ€™s daughterโ€”I donโ€™t want to be labeled a whore who sleeps with her husbandโ€™s uncle,โ€ I said clearly.

Alpha Damien didnโ€™t look surprised or offended. He simply stood, still and unreadable, but something in his eyes shifted.

Then he spoke. โ€œYouโ€™re really worried about what people will think of you? At this point in your life?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not,โ€ I said quickly, my voice harsh. โ€œI donโ€™t care what they say. Theyโ€™ve already called me a thiefโ€™s daughter, treated me like garbage. That doesnโ€™t scare me anymore.โ€

I took a breath and met his eyes.

โ€œBut I do care about my dignity,โ€ I added quietly. โ€œIโ€™ve lost so much already. I wonโ€™t lose myself too. And if I ever have children, I donโ€™t want them growing up hearing that their mother slept with their fatherโ€™s uncle for โ€˜revengeโ€™!โ€

Damien didnโ€™t move for a moment. Then he slowly walked toward me, his eyes locked on mine.

โ€œWhat makes you think you get a choice in this, Olivia?โ€ he said, his voice low but authoritative. โ€œThis isnโ€™t a deal you can say no to.โ€

My heart skipped a beat.

โ€œThis is happening,โ€ he continued. โ€œYou and me. For the next two months, youโ€™ll pretend to be mine. And youโ€™ll do it well.โ€

I took a step back, my pulse racing. โ€œYouโ€™re forcing me?โ€ I whispered.

โ€œIโ€™m giving you an opportunity,โ€ he said. โ€œA chance to make them feel everything you did. And if youโ€™re smart, youโ€™ll take it.โ€

I clenched my fists, trembling with anger. โ€œYouโ€™re treating me like Iโ€™m just a pawn.โ€

He raised an eyebrow. โ€œWerenโ€™t you already their tool? At least this time, you get something out of it.โ€

His words hit hardโ€”because there was truth in them. But I refused to let him see how much it hurt.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t how you help someone,โ€ I said through gritted teeth. โ€œThis isnโ€™t kindness.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not trying to be kind,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m giving you revenge. And when weโ€™re done, it wonโ€™t just be the triplets who suffer. She will too.โ€

She? Is he talking about Sofia?

My heart raced, and out of curiosity, I asked, โ€œWho is Sofia to you?โ€ I asked, almost trembling.

His jaw tightened, and he looked vulnerable.

โ€œThat,โ€ he said quietly, โ€œyouโ€™ll understand when the time comes.โ€

And just like that, he turned away, leaving me with more questions than answers.

โ€œYou can return to your room now,โ€ he said, opening the door. โ€œOur game begins immediately.โ€

Then he stepped out, the door swinging shut behind him.
