He didnโt respond immediately. Instead, he walked to the bed and slowly sat down, his eyes never leaving mine. The tension was palpable; his presence intense, but different from before. It wasn't rage, but something deeperโcalculated, almost determined.
โIโm going to help you,โ he finally said, his voice low but audible. โAnd in return, youโll help me.โ
I blinked. โHelp you? With what?โ
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. โThey might be my nephews, but that doesnโt mean they get a free pass. They need to learn that actions have consequences.โ
My throat tightened. He still hadnโt answered my question.
โAlpha Damienโฆ Iโm confusedโฆโ
โYou donโt have to be,โ he cut me off, pausing. โWe will make the triplets feel a fraction of what you felt when they were with her.โ
I frowned, trying to understand.
โMeaning?โ I asked, raising an eyebrow.
โMeaning you are going to fake date me,โ he responded casually, and my eyes widened. โFor the next two months, Iโll act like I desperately want you. Like I want you to bear my heir. And youโฆ youโll act hesitant at first, but eventually, youโll give in.โ
I swallowed hard. So that was his plan? He didnโt actually want me to carry his child? A part of me was relieved, but another, ridiculous part felt disappointed.
โThis isnโt just about making them jealous. This is about making them pay,โ he continued. โTheyโll get a tasteโjust a dropโof the pain you felt.โ
I stared at him, struggling to comprehend.
โFake date you?โ I repeated slowly. โYou want me to act like Iโm falling for youโฆ like I want to carry your heir?โ
Alpha Damienโs gaze was steady. โYes.โ
I shook my head, still absorbing his words. โAnd thatโs supposed toโฆ teach them a lesson?โ
He leaned back, his expression hardening. โI want them to feel the regret theyโve buried under arrogance and pride. I want them to burn from the inside out.โ
I inhaled sharply, my heart pounding. โSo what exactly do you want from me, Alpha Damien? What do you mean when you say Iโll help you?โ
He stood and slowly closed the distance between us. โAnd in return,โ he said, his voice even lower, โin two months, weโll let the rumor spreadโฆ that youโre pregnant with my child.โ
My breath caught.
โWhat?โ
โItโll be fake, of course,โ he added quickly, noticing my alarm. โJust a plot to lure her out of wherever she is.โ My frown deepened. Lure her out? What did that even mean? Who were we luring out?
โI donโt understand what you are sayingโฆโ
โYou donโt need to understand,โ he said, shaking his head. โJust follow my lead. Weโll make the triplets pay, and then youโll repay meโby pretending to be pregnant. Iโll handle the rumors.โ
My frown deepened. I shook my head. โI canโtโฆ yes, I want revenge on the tripletsโฆ I want them to feel my pain when they were with Anita, but if Iโm doing that, itโs definitely with another man, not their uncle.โ
I held his gaze firmly.
โIโm already labeled a thiefโs daughterโI donโt want to be labeled a whore who sleeps with her husbandโs uncle,โ I said clearly.
Alpha Damien didnโt look surprised or offended. He simply stood, still and unreadable, but something in his eyes shifted.
Then he spoke. โYouโre really worried about what people will think of you? At this point in your life?โ
โIโm not,โ I said quickly, my voice harsh. โI donโt care what they say. Theyโve already called me a thiefโs daughter, treated me like garbage. That doesnโt scare me anymore.โ
I took a breath and met his eyes.
โBut I do care about my dignity,โ I added quietly. โIโve lost so much already. I wonโt lose myself too. And if I ever have children, I donโt want them growing up hearing that their mother slept with their fatherโs uncle for โrevengeโ!โ
Damien didnโt move for a moment. Then he slowly walked toward me, his eyes locked on mine.
โWhat makes you think you get a choice in this, Olivia?โ he said, his voice low but authoritative. โThis isnโt a deal you can say no to.โ
My heart skipped a beat.
โThis is happening,โ he continued. โYou and me. For the next two months, youโll pretend to be mine. And youโll do it well.โ
I took a step back, my pulse racing. โYouโre forcing me?โ I whispered.
โIโm giving you an opportunity,โ he said. โA chance to make them feel everything you did. And if youโre smart, youโll take it.โ
I clenched my fists, trembling with anger. โYouโre treating me like Iโm just a pawn.โ
He raised an eyebrow. โWerenโt you already their tool? At least this time, you get something out of it.โ
His words hit hardโbecause there was truth in them. But I refused to let him see how much it hurt.
โThis isnโt how you help someone,โ I said through gritted teeth. โThis isnโt kindness.โ
โIโm not trying to be kind,โ he said. โIโm giving you revenge. And when weโre done, it wonโt just be the triplets who suffer. She will too.โ
She? Is he talking about Sofia?
My heart raced, and out of curiosity, I asked, โWho is Sofia to you?โ I asked, almost trembling.
His jaw tightened, and he looked vulnerable.
โThat,โ he said quietly, โyouโll understand when the time comes.โ
And just like that, he turned away, leaving me with more questions than answers.
โYou can return to your room now,โ he said, opening the door. โOur game begins immediately.โ
Then he stepped out, the door swinging shut behind him.
