192 Change of Plan

Oliviaโ€™s POV

โ€œWho sent it?โ€ I asked, staring at the white envelope in Lolitaโ€™s hand. My nameโ€”Olivia Parkerโ€”was written in bold, dark letters on the front.

โ€œI have no idea,โ€ she replied. โ€œThe guards at the gate said a courier brought it. Didnโ€™t say who sent it.โ€

I frowned, turning the envelope over in my hands. Who would send me something like this? And why now? But I didnโ€™t waste time guessing. My fingers moved quickly, tearing it open.

Inside was a single piece of paper. No design. No signature. No return address. Just one sentence written in red ink across the center: โ€œMeet me tonight at 10 p.m. on the mansion rooftop.โ€

My frown deepened. Lolita caught the change in my expression. โ€œWhat is it?โ€ she asked, stepping closer. I slowly turned the paper around and showed her. Her brow furrowed. โ€œWhat the hellโ€ฆ?โ€

I stared at the note again, unease crawling under my skin. No name. No hint. No explanation. Just that strange, silent summons. Meet me on the rooftop? Who? Why?

โ€œIgnore it,โ€ my wolf muttered.

I wanted to agree with her. But the more I looked at that letterโ€ฆ the more curious I became.

โ€œAre you planning to go?โ€ Lolita asked.

I didnโ€™t answer. Not because I didnโ€™t want toโ€”but because I truly didnโ€™t know. Instead, I folded the paper neatly and slid it back into the envelope.

โ€œI want to take a nap,โ€ I said softly.

Lolita nodded, sensing I needed space. โ€œCall me if you need anything.โ€ She stepped out, gently closing the door behind her.

I sighed deeply. After kicking off my shoes, I climbed into bed and pulled the blanket up to my chest. But instead of sleep, I found myself staring at the envelope resting on my nightstand.

Time went by. My eyelids grew heavy. My mind calmed down. The room became quiet. I fell asleep.

I wasnโ€™t sure how long Iโ€™d been asleep. But something pulled me from the darkness. A sound. A presence.

My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the dim lighting in the room. It was already evening. But then I felt someone was here.

I sat up slowly, my senses heightening. Then I turned toward the far corner of the room. Alpha Damien stood by the window, his arms crossed, his eyes already on me.

My heart jumped. Not out of fearโ€”but because I hadnโ€™t expected anyone. Especially not him.

โ€œHow long have you been standing there?โ€ I asked, my voice still groggy with sleep.

He didnโ€™t answer right away. โ€œLong enough,โ€ he said finally, his voice calm.

I ran a quick glance at him. He was dressed in a gray suit that hugged his broad shoulders and tapered perfectly at the waist. God. How could someone look that good doing absolutely nothing? His tie was undone just enough to reveal a hint of collarbone beneath the crisp white shirt, and his sleeves were rolled slightly, like he was just starting to get dressed. He wasnโ€™t just handsome. He was ridiculously hotโ€”especially for a man in his mid-thirties.

โ€œYou done gawking?โ€ he asked, his lips twitching slightly.

I blinked, realizing Iโ€™d been staring and probably with my mouth a little open. โ€œI wasnโ€™t gawking,โ€ I muttered, even though I definitely was.

A low chuckle left his lips. He stepped forward and set a sleek black box on the foot of my bed.

โ€œWhatโ€™s that?โ€ I asked, glancing at it.

โ€œYour dress,โ€ he said simply. โ€œMy birthday party started twenty minutes ago.โ€

I blinked again. โ€œMy guests are already here, all eager to see the woman I am dating,โ€ he announced, and my eyes widened.

My eyes widened. โ€œYou told them weโ€™re dating? I thought I was just your date for the night!โ€ I said with a disapproving frown, but Alpha Damien didnโ€™t seem bothered. โ€œWellโ€ฆ I thought weโ€™d speed things up a little,โ€ he said with a smirk that made my blood boil.

โ€œYou shouldโ€™ve told me,โ€ I growled, climbing off the bed and storming toward him. โ€œI needed to be mentally ready for thisโ€ฆ you should have fucking told me!โ€ I spat, staring at him face to face.

Damien didnโ€™t move. He just looked at me with that same calm expressionโ€”even as I stood in front of him clearly upset.

โ€œYou should have told me the change of plan,โ€ I repeated, my voice sharper now. โ€œYou donโ€™t just spring something like that on me. Not with everything going on.โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t think it would bother you this much,โ€ he said, his tone sounding nonchalant.

โ€œThatโ€™s exactly the problem,โ€ I shot back. โ€œYou didnโ€™t thinkโ€”you just decided for both of us like my opinion didnโ€™t matter.โ€

He raised an eyebrow. โ€œItโ€™s nothing, Olivia, Iโ€™m just trying to speed things up. This is also for your goodโ€ฆโ€

โ€œNo, itโ€™s not!โ€ I shouted, taking a step closer. โ€œThis plan is no longer about me anymore. Itโ€™s pressure. Itโ€™s all about you now. You are making decisions without asking if I wanted that!โ€

The air between us grew heavy. Tense. He didnโ€™t back down. His jaw tightened just slightly. โ€œAre you planning on forgiving the triplets and giving them another chance?โ€

I froze. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€ I asked quietly.

โ€œYou want to forgive them,โ€ he said, stepping closer. โ€œYouโ€™re acting like youโ€™re ready to give the triplets another chance. You still love themโ€ฆ you are worried about what they will thinkโ€ฆ how they will feel. This has nothing to do with what other people thinkโ€ฆ this is all about the triplets.โ€

His words hit something deep. Something I didnโ€™t want to accept. โ€œThatโ€™s not true. Donโ€™t act like you understand me,โ€ I whispered.

โ€œBut I do,โ€ he said, even closer now, too close.

His voice dropped, softer this time. โ€œIโ€™ve seen the way you still look at them. Yes, hate them for all the pain they caused, but that doesnโ€™t mean you stopped loving them.โ€

My breath caught. I hated that he was right. Hated the way my heart stung with the truth. And I really hated how his eyes were locked on mine like he could see every emotion I tried to hide.

For a moment, none of us said a word until he let out a tired sigh and dropped a bombshell. โ€œIโ€™m sorryโ€ฆ okayโ€ฆ I should have informed you.โ€

I was dumbfoundedโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t expect the almighty Alpha Damien to apologize, but I acted like I wasnโ€™t moved by his apology.

โ€œYou think an apology fixes this?โ€ I asked, my frown deepening. Though, I was no longer angry. It was funny how a simple apology from him cooled me down.

โ€œNo,โ€ he murmured. Then, he reached out and cupped the side of my face gently. โ€œI think this will.โ€

And before I could speakโ€ฆ. He kissed me.
