Leaving
Oliviaโs POV
โIโm leaving,โ I announced.
A heavy silence fell over the room. I studied their facesโconfused, scared, and full of pain.
Levi, who looked weak and drained, took a shaky step toward me and reached out, but I moved away quickly and frowned.
My heart ached. My wolf was silent, but I could still feel itโthat deep love and care I had for them. It hadnโt gone away, even if we were no longer mates. I wasnโt surprised. I had loved them long before we were bonded.
โIs there anything we could do to make you change your mind?โ Levi asked softly.
I stared at him coldly. โAbsolutely nothing.โ
The three of them exchanged glances before looking back at me. The pain in their eyes was so raw, I had to turn away to stop myself from softening.
โWhere are you going?โ Lennox asked finally.
For a second, I was stunned. I expected them to argue, to begโto protestโbut they didnโt. Just like with the council, they gave up too easily.
Why? Why did they always let go so quickly?
โAt least please let us know where youโre going,โ Louis added. โSo our hearts can rest a little.โ
I looked away. The truth wasโฆ I didnโt know. I only knew I couldnโt stay.
โI have no idea,โ I said honestly.
I saw their panic grow.
โNo, Oliviaโฆ at least know where youโre headed,โ Lennox said quickly, his voice tight with concern.
I sighed and shrugged. โIโm going to my motherโs pack. Sheโs there.โ
They all let out a breath, clearly relieved, and nodded slowly.
Lennox reached into his pocket and pulled something out. He walked closer and held it in front of me.
It was a braceletโsimple, but clearly crafted with care. A red gem shined at its center.
โWe had a feeling this might happen,โ he said quietly. โThat you might reject usโฆ that youโd want to leave.โ
He paused, his voice trembling a little.
โSoโฆ we prepared this.โ
I frowned and looked at it, confused.
โItโs not just any bracelet,โ Lennox continued. โWe asked a witch to enchant it. Itโs made with our blood.โ
I blinked in shock.
โYou may not believe in the prophecyโฆ about your life being in danger,โ Louis added, โbut we do. We believe every word.โ
โEven though weโre not your mates anymore, we canโt feel your painโฆ or know when youโre in danger,โ Levi said gently. โBut with this on your wrist, we will. If anything happens to youโif youโre hurt, scared, or in troubleโweโll know.โ
My chest tightened, but I shook my head firmly. โNo. Iโll be fine. I donโt need your protection anymore.โ
Lennox stepped closer, eyes begging. โPlease, Olivia.โ
โNo,โ I said again, turning away. โIโll be okay. I donโt need this.โ
He hesitated, then softly said, โIf you ever loved usโฆ even for a momentโฆ please. Let this be our last wish.โ
I froze.
That sentence.
It hit something deep inside me.
I stared at the bracelet in Lennoxโs hand for what felt like forever.
Why were they doing this now? Why were they making it harder to let go?
This braceletโฆ it would only remind me of them. Of what we used to have. Of what we lost.
Still, that one sentence kept ringing in my mindโIf you ever loved usโฆ
And I did. I still did. That was the painful truth.
Slowly, I reached out and took the bracelet from Lennox. My fingers brushed his, and I felt him tremble slightly.
He let out a shaky breath and gently helped put it on.
The moment the bracelet touched my wrist, I felt it.
A strange warmth spread through me.
It didnโt hurt. It didnโt burn.
It justโฆ settled.
Like a piece of something I didnโt know was missing had been returned.
โThere,โ Lennox said softly, eyes fixed on it. โNow, if anything happensโฆ weโll feel it.โ
Louis stepped forward slowly, his voice calm. โOlivia, thereโs something else.โ
I looked at him, my heart already heavy.
โWe just found outโฆ your father is alive,โ he said gently. โAnd heโs not guilty. He didnโt do any of the things they said he did.โ
I nodded slowly. โI know.โ
Their eyes widened a little in shock.
โI found out not long ago,โ I said. โThatโs why I have to go. I have to find him.โ
The room went quiet for a moment, the weight of everything thick in the air.
I took a step back and gave them one last look. โGoodbye.โ
Just as I turned, Levi spoke. โWaitโOliviaโฆ can we hug you? Just once?โ
I paused.
Every part of me wanted to say no. I was scared it would weaken meโฆ make it harder to walk away.
But thenโฆ my wolf whispered softly inside me.
โLet them.โ
I slowly turned back, and nodded.
Levi moved first.
His arms wrapped around me gently, but firmly. No mate bond. No sparks.
And yetโฆ it felt like home.
It reminded me of the pastโof being younger, when everything was simpler, when Iโd run into his arms and feel like nothing could go wrong.
For a second, I closed my eyes and let myself feel it.
When he pulled away, Louis stepped forward and wrapped me in a warm hug.
His arms were calm, steadyโฆ comforting.
Just like always.
Like the quiet peace I used to feel during storms, when heโd hold me until I fell asleep.
Then came Lennox.
He said nothing. Just pulled me into his arms.
And that was when it broke me.
The moment his arms wrapped around me, I felt it-
That protectiveness. That strength.
It was like being wrapped in a shield from the world. Like nothing could touch me if I stayed there.
Tears spilled down my cheeks before I could stop them.
I pulled back quickly, wiping my face. โI have to go,โ I whispered, my voice breaking.
Then, without looking back, I turned and ran out of the room.
I ran before the pain dragged me back in.
Before I forgot why I needed to leave.
Before I let love make me stay.
