The Decision Oliviaโs POV
Alpha Damien stood still, waiting for my answer. He didnโt rush me, didnโt pressure me; he just waited. But the silence between us felt so loud, so suffocating.
I turned my back to him and faced the cold, cracked wall of the cell. I closed my eyes, trying to breathe, but it was hard. My chest felt too tight.
What choice did I even have?
If I said noโฆ by tomorrow, Iโd be dead. My head on the ground, just like in that horrible dream. Gabriel wasnโt bluffingโI saw it in his eyes.
And the triplets?
I tried reaching themโฆ again and again. But nothing. The choker was doing its job. And even if they did feel something was wrong, by the time they figured it outโit would already be too late.
No one was coming.
No one was saving me.
So maybeโฆ maybe Alpha Damienโs deal was the only way out.
A fake death.
A new face.
A life in hiding.
Being his wife in name only.
Just for one year.
I let out a shaky breath and slowly turned back to face him. His eyes met mine, calm but serious.
โIโll do it,โ I said, voice low but firm. โIโll accept the deal.โ
His face didnโt change, but I saw a small spark of relief in his eyes.
โButโฆโ I raised a finger. โYou have to promise meโswear itโthat after one year, youโll let me go. Youโll give me my life back. My face back.โ
โI swear,โ he said without hesitation. โAfter one year, your face will be restored, and youโll be free to leave. Iโll even remove the bracelet myself.โ
I studied him, looking for any hint of a lieโฆ but he looked serious.
I slowly nodded.
โThen we have a deal.โ
He stepped forward and held out his hand. And with a deep breath, I placed my hand in his. We shook, and I pulled away with a hard swallow, my chest tightening with dread. I didnโt know what I was getting myself into and if I should trust Alpha Damien by his words, but what other choice did I have? Anything was better than my head being chopped off. I didnโt want to experience such a painful and brutal death.
โTake off your clothes,โ he suddenly said.
I blinked, confused. โWhat?โ
Alpha Damien rolled his eyes like it shouldโve been obvious. โI have to fake your death, remember? My witch needs your clothesโsomething fresh, something with your scent. That way, when the triplets see them, they wonโt doubt itโs real.โ
A cold wave washed over me.
He was rightโฆ but still, hearing it like that hit differently. I glanced down at the clothes I was wearing. They werenโt much, but they still felt like the last thing tying me to who I was.
โHow are you going to fake it exactly?โ I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
He looked at me, his eyes unreadable. โThatโs not your worry. Just know itโll be convincing. No one will question it.โ
I gave a slow nod. Maybe it was better that way. The less I knew, the better.
But even as I reached for the hem of my shirt, my heart tightened painfully in my chest. My mind drifted to the tripletsโLouisโฆ Leviโฆ Lennox.
What would they feel?
Would they cry? Break?
Would they hate themselves for not saving me?
Would they think they failed me?
I bit my lip hard, forcing back the tears. I didnโt want this. I never wanted to hurt them.
I just hopedโฆ they stayed safe. That they wouldnโt do something reckless out of guilt.
Levi and Louisโฆ they could mourn in quiet agony for months. But Lennoxโฆ I knew him too well. What if heโฆ?
I shook my head, forcing the scary thoughts away.
With shaking hands, I stripped off my clothes and quietly handed them to Alpha Damien. He took them carefully, folding them in his arms.
Then, without saying a word, he pulled off his jacket and handed it to me.
โWear this,โ he said softly. โLetโs get you out of here.โ
I slipped it on, clutching it tightly around myself.
He looked at me. โAre you ready?โ I nodded but didnโt speak.
โFollow me,โ Alpha Damien ordered gently, turning toward the cell door.
Obediently, I trailed after him.
The hallway outside the dungeon was dark and cold, just like the cell. Every step I took felt unreal, like I was walking through someone elseโs nightmare. My bare feet hit the rough floor, and Damienโs jacket hung loosely around me, the sleeves swallowing my hands.
As we turned the corner, I saw two men standing guard at the end of the hall. They were tall, dressed in black, and armed. When they saw Alpha Damien, they bowed slightly and followed us.
We stepped out into the open yard behind the mansion. The cold night air brushed against my skin, making me shiver. My heart was pounding again, not from fear, but from the weight of everything.
A row of black SUVs waited in the yard.
One of Damienโs men opened the back door of the closest car.
He gestured for me to get in, but just as I placed my hand on the door handleโฆ I felt it.
A chill ran down my spine.
Like someone was watching me.
I slowly turned around, and my eyes locked onto a figure standing in the shadows of the upper balcony.
It was Alpha Gabriel.
He stood tall, arms crossed over his chest, just watchingโฆ saying nothing.
His face was unreadable, but his eyes...
They didnโt hold hate.
They didnโt hold anger.
Just silence.
And something else I couldnโt name.
Regret?
Guilt?
Pain?
I wasnโt sure.
Our eyes stayed locked for a second longer. Then he turned and walked away, disappearing into the mansion without a word.
I turned back to the car, my throat tight. I didnโt know what to make of that. What deal had Alpha Damien struck with him? How did Alpha Damien even know I was about to be killed? But most importantly, I really wanted to know what my mother had done to make all of this happen.
โGet in,โ Alpha Damien said gently.
And I did.
As the door closed behind me, I knew that from this moment onโฆ
Olivia Parker was gone.
