  1. Refusing

Oliviaโ€™s POV

Their idea made sense. At leastโ€ฆ a little sense. But I wasnโ€™t buying it. Not fully.

โ€œI donโ€™t agree to this.โ€ My arms folded tight across my chest, my voice sharp as a blade. โ€œI already have a plan. Iโ€™ll find the vessel, destroy it, and kill Frederick myself. I donโ€™t need a stranger to get involved. A stranger I donโ€™t trust.โ€

The words spat out of my lips, and I couldnโ€™t even tell if I said them because I didnโ€™t trust herโ€”or because I couldnโ€™t stand the sight of her standing so close to my mates.

Either way, I didnโ€™t care. I wasnโ€™t accepting this idea of theirs.

Louis stepped toward me, his expression calm but his wolf restless inside him. โ€œOlivia, you canโ€™t face Frederick alone. You know that. Heโ€™ll tear you apart before you even touch the vessel.โ€

I scoffed. โ€œBetter me than letting her be near you three.โ€ My glare flicked toward the door as if I could see her from there.

โ€œLiv,โ€ Lennox said carefully, his voice deep and pleasing. He moved closer, close enough that I could feel the heat of his presence. โ€œSheโ€™s a weapon Frederick doesnโ€™t expect. That makes her valuable.โ€

My wolf growled inside me, furious at his calm tone. โ€œValuable?โ€ I snapped. โ€œSo am I worthless to you now? Youโ€™d rather rely on her than on me?โ€

Levi stepped in quickly, his voice firm but soothing, the peacemaker as always. โ€œThatโ€™s not what weโ€™re saying. You are everything, Olivia. But Frederickโ€ฆ heโ€™s not just another enemy. Heโ€™s older, stronger, and darker than anything weโ€™ve fought before. If we ignore Seleneโ€™s blood, weโ€™re walking blind into death.โ€

I clenched my fists, every muscle in my body trembling with anger and hurt. Their logic pressed against me like iron, but my heart screamed louder. I didnโ€™t care if Seleneโ€™s blood was poison or power. I didnโ€™t care if she was the โ€œkey.โ€ All I saw was another woman in my house, too close to the men who were mine. And gods help meโ€“I wasnโ€™t ready to sit back and watch it happen.

My frown deepened, my voice sharp. โ€œItโ€™s not happening. We donโ€™t need her help. I have a plan, remember? And besides, we canโ€™t trust her. What if she betrays us?โ€

Louisโ€™s jaw tightened. โ€œShe wonโ€™t. Selene canโ€™t betray us, Olivia. Sheโ€™s family. Her bloodline ties her to us just as much as it ties her to the fight against Frederick. She gains nothing by standing against us.โ€

I scoffed, my wolf snarling inside me. โ€œFamily means nothing. You should know that better than anyone. Blood betrays. Blood lies. Donโ€™t stand there and act like itโ€™s a shield.โ€

Lennox stepped closer, his eyes full of worry. โ€œOlivia, listen to me. You can doubt her all you want, but the fact remainsโ€“we canโ€™t do this without her. Selene is the weapon Frederick wonโ€™t see coming. Sheโ€™s the reason we might finally have a chance at ending him.โ€

I glared at him, my chest heaving. โ€œSo youโ€™d rather put your faith in her than in me?โ€

God, I was drowning in jealousy.

Leviโ€™s voice cut in before Lennox could answer, calm but carrying weight. โ€œThis isnโ€™t about choosing her over you, Liv. Itโ€™s about using every advantage we have. Selene doesnโ€™t replace you. She strengthens us. With her, and with you, we stand a chance.โ€

Louisโ€™s eyes locked on mine, his tone final. โ€œShe canโ€™t betray us, Olivia. Not with whatโ€™s at stake. She knows Frederick as well as anyone, and she wants him dead just as much as we do. That makes her an ally we canโ€™t afford to throw away.โ€

Their voices suffocated me. My wolf clawed inside me, screaming for me not to yield.

But for the first time, I realizedโ€“they werenโ€™t bending. They werenโ€™t going to let go of this plan, no matter how much I fought it.

And that made my blood boil.

The silence between us was suffocating. Their arguments stacked against me, their plan was logical, but all I could feel was the heat of my jealousy burning through my chest.

And before I could stop myself, the words slipped out.

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you just say it? You like her.โ€

The second it left my lips, I wished I could swallow it back down.

The room went still.

Their faces changedโ€“Louisโ€™s jaw tightened, Leviโ€™s eyes widened, and Lennoxโ€™s gaze snapped to me like Iโ€™d just ripped something vital out of him. The hurt in his eyes sank into me before he even spoke.

โ€œOlivia,โ€ Louis said softly, his voice pained.

I cursed myself immediately, guilt crashing through me. I hadnโ€™t meant to say it, not like that. But the words were out, and I couldnโ€™t take them back.

Lennoxโ€™s chest rose and fell heavily, his wolf restless inside him. He stepped closer, his voice low and pained. โ€œSo thatโ€™s what you think of us?โ€

I froze.

His eyes burned into mine, full of anger and heartbreak. โ€œYou think weโ€™d look at another woman? You think weโ€™d do something with Selene?โ€ His voice cracked, just a little. โ€œDonโ€™t you still get it? We love you. So, so much.โ€

My throat tightened, my eyes stinging.

He didnโ€™t stop. โ€œWhat happened with Anitaโ€ฆโ€ He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. โ€œWe werenโ€™t in our right minds, Olivia. We were charmed. Twisted. And goodness we hate ourselves for it every single day. But you-โ€ His voice broke, his hand curling into a fist. โ€œYouโ€™ll never let it go, will you? Youโ€™ll always see us as men who would pick another woman over you.โ€

My wolf whimpered inside me. Guilt shredded through my chest, leaving me breathless.

I wanted to deny it, to tell him he was wrong, but my silence betrayed me.

Because maybe, deep down, that was the fear I could never shake.

Lennoxโ€™s chest rose and fell like he was holding himself back from saying more. He just turned around and faced the windowโ€“and that broke me more than his anger.

โ€œIโ€ฆโ€ My voice faltered. The guilt was sharp, burning, but the fear still clawed inside me. โ€œI donโ€™t want to think that. I donโ€™t. But every time I see her near youโ€”I see another lady near any of youโ€”I feel like Iโ€™m back there again. Back when Anita happened. Back when I wasnโ€™t enough to keep you fromโ€ฆโ€ My throat closed. I couldnโ€™t finish.

Louisโ€™s face twisted with hurt. โ€œOlivia, no.โ€ His voice was firm, but it trembled underneath. โ€œDonโ€™t do that to yourself. Donโ€™t do that to us. You are enough. Youโ€™ve always been enough. What happened with Anita will never happen again.โ€

Levi stepped closer, his wolf brushing against mine through the bond, warm, steady, begging me to hear him. โ€œWe will never want Selene. We will never want anyone else. We only want you. Thatโ€™s the truth, Liv. Thatโ€™s the only truth that matters.โ€

I swallowed hard, my chest aching. Their words should have soothed me, but the war inside me raged louder. Love and jealousy, trust and fear, clashing until I didnโ€™t know what to believe anymore.

And the worst part? I hated myself for saying itโ€”for doubting them, even for a moment. But the scars Anita left werenโ€™t easy to erase.
