Listen to this chapter:

โ€œShe has blocked me from communicating with her,โ€ Lennox growled angrily as he kicked a stool. Where I stood, I was worried, scared, and at the same time angry. I moved my gaze to Louis, who stood in a corner, his expression full of regret and worry.

โ€œAlphasโ€ฆโ€ Maddison called as he stepped into the sitting room.

โ€œAny news yet?โ€ I asked.

Maddison shook his head. โ€œNo, Alphaโ€ฆ the border guards didnโ€™t see her leaving, so that means she might still be around the pack,โ€ he growled, running a hand through his hair. โ€œThen where might she be? Where would she have gone!โ€ I said in anger.

Lennox growled. โ€œGo house to house and begin the search. Make sure every house in this pack is searched,โ€ he commanded.

โ€œRoger that, Alpha,โ€ Maddison said with a bow before walking out on us.

Deep down, I knew nothing was wrong with Olivia. If anything was wrong, my wolf could have felt it. I knew Olivia was fine, but we were just worried about where she was.

โ€œAnd why the fuck is she blocking us from communicating with her?โ€ Lennox growled. Lennoxโ€™s growl echoed through the walls, shaking a picture frame slightly off balance.

I clenched my fists. โ€œSheโ€™s angry,โ€ I muttered. โ€œThatโ€™s the only reason sheโ€™d shut us out. And given what happened earlierโ€ฆโ€ I glanced over at Louis, who hadnโ€™t moved from the corner. โ€œCan you blame her?โ€

Louis didnโ€™t respond. His jaw tightened, but his eyes said it allโ€”he blamed himself more than any of us ever could.

Lennox shot him a deadly glare. โ€œJust pray we find her and in one piece.โ€

โ€œEnough,โ€ I snapped. The tension was suffocating. โ€œThis isnโ€™t the time to tear each other apart. Oliviaโ€™s gone, and we need to focus on finding her before someone else does.โ€

โ€œLike who?โ€ Louis asked, his tone sharp. โ€œWho would even dare touch our woman?โ€

Lennox fell quiet. His eyes flicked toward the window. โ€œWhat if she has left this pack and the men at the border didnโ€™t notice?โ€

My stomach twisted. He was right.

I took a deep breath. โ€œIโ€™ll try again,โ€ I said, closing my eyes and calling out to my wolf, hoping somehow sheโ€™d let him in. Olivia. Where are you? Please, talk to me.

But nothing. Just silence.

Lennox turned abruptly. โ€œWe need to search the woods. If she left, thatโ€™s the only way she couldโ€™ve done it without being seen.โ€

โ€œThe warriors should have seen her!โ€ Louis said through gritted teeth.

โ€œWhat if they didnโ€™tโ€ฆ what if she sneaked out on them?โ€ Lennox narrowed his eyes. โ€œIf anything happens to her, Louisโ€”โ€

โ€œIt wonโ€™t,โ€ I interrupted firmly. โ€œWe all want her safe. Thatโ€™s all that matters right now.โ€

We stood in silence for a beat. Then Lennox nodded. โ€œGear up. We move now.โ€

Lennox led the way, his steps fast, anger radiating off him in waves. Louis walked beside me, silent but visibly fuming. We all were. None of us could understand how the guards let this happen. Or how Olivia had managed to disappearโ€ฆ

We reached the eastern border within minutes, where three warriors stood on patrol, spears strapped to their backs, shoulders straight. They snapped to attention the moment they saw us. โ€œAlpha!โ€ one called out.

Lennox didnโ€™t even stop moving. โ€œDid you see anyone pass through here?โ€ he barked.

The lead guard, a young warrior named Bren, frowned. โ€œNo, Alpha. Nothing unusual.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re sure?โ€ I stepped forward, my eyes narrowing. โ€œNo sign of a wolf crossing? No scent? No movement in the trees?โ€

They exchanged confused looks, then shook their heads. โ€œNo, Alpha Levi. Weโ€™ve been alert all dayโ€”โ€

โ€œThen explain this!โ€ Lennox snarled, stepping forward and grabbing Bren by the front of his shirt. โ€œSheโ€™s gone. Oliviaโ€™s gone. And somehow, she slipped right under your noses!โ€

The warriors paled.

Louis growled low, pacing behind us. โ€œShe couldnโ€™t have flown. Sheโ€™s a wolf. That means she ran and someone shouldโ€™ve seen her.โ€

Just as Lennox dropped the trembling guard and turned away in frustration, a sudden breeze rolled through the treesโ€”carrying her scent.

I froze. โ€œWait,โ€ I whispered, eyes scanning the woods. โ€œYou smell that?โ€

Lennox turned his head sharply, sniffing the air. โ€œOliviaโ€ฆโ€

Louis was already on the move, his body tense. โ€œShe was here.โ€

We followed the scent trail without another word, deeper into the trees. The warriors trailed behind us, confused and panicked. The further we went, the stronger her scent becameโ€”wild, crisp, familiar. Thenโ€”

โ€œStop,โ€ Lennox said, holding up his hand.

There, just ahead, near a patch of soft moss beneath a large oak, lay a neatly folded pile of clothes. Oliviaโ€™s clothes.

My heart stopped for a second. She had shifted here. The air buzzed with her scent, so fresh it made my wolf restless.

โ€œShe did leave,โ€ I said, my voice tight with anger. โ€œShe walked right past your border, and none of you noticed.โ€

Louis stormed forward, scooping up her clothes. He pressed them to his face for a moment, inhaling deeply. His shoulders shook.

โ€œSheโ€™s out there. Alone,โ€ he muttered. โ€œAnd the guardsโ€”you idiotsโ€”you missed her.โ€

The warriors stood frozen, their shame evident.

Lennoxโ€™s voice dropped to a dangerously low growl. โ€œWhen she returnsโ€”if better pray sheโ€™s unharmed. Or Iโ€™ll personally rip out your throats.โ€

I looked deeper into the woods, my heart pounding. โ€œShe raced out of our borderโ€ฆ this is dangerousโ€ฆ what if she encountered one of those roguesโ€ฆ fuck!โ€ I grunted, panic lacing my voice as my heart pounded faster.

โ€œWhat if sheโ€™s captured?โ€ Lennox growled, his furious gaze snapping to Louis. โ€œThis is all your faultโ€”โ€

He didnโ€™t finish the sentence. With a roar, Lennox lunged at Louis, his fist connecting with Louisโ€™ jaw so hard it sent him stumbling backward, blood spraying from his mouth. Before Louis could recover, Lennox was on him again, hitting him.

A deep gash opened on Louisโ€™ lower lip, splitting it open brutally. Blood poured down his chin.

โ€œLennox, stop!โ€ I shouted, rushing forward, but he was blinded by rage.

โ€œYou are the cause of this!โ€ Lennox roared, slamming Louis against a tree.

Louisโ€™ growl thundered as he shoved Lennox back with all his strength, stumbling but steady, wiping the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand.

โ€œDonโ€™t you dare act like youโ€™ve been some fucking saint to her!โ€ he spat, the words sharp despite the blood coating his lips. โ€œYouโ€™re just as bad, Lennox. If not worse.โ€

Lennox snarled, his eyes glowing with anger. โ€œYou hated her, pushed her aside, barked orders.โ€ Louis stepped forward, fire in his eyes. โ€œYou act like you love her, but all youโ€™ve ever done is hurt her more than anyone else!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s enough!โ€ I roared, pushing between them and shoving them both back with a force that trembled the ground under us. โ€œYou two want to fight? Do it after we find her. Not now. Not while sheโ€™s out there, alone!โ€

They stood there, panting like wild beasts, blood on their fists and anger in their eyes. But they didnโ€™t move. I turned, my chest heaving. โ€œOur mate. All of ours. And right now, she needs us unitedโ€”not tearing each other apart!โ€

Lennox wiped his mouth and finally stepped back. Louis stared at the blood staining his fingers, his jaw clenched.

I took a shaky breath. โ€œWe follow her scent. We find her. Then we deal with this shit.โ€

They both nodded, reluctantly.
