Chapter 104

โ€œAlright, Chris, stop worrying about Stefi. Iโ€™ll be fine,โ€ Olivia placated. Chris remained apprehensive, especially after Stephanieโ€™s outburst. Olivia repeatedly reassured him, promising to be careful. Finally, he left, but stayed close by, ready to intervene at the first sign of trouble.

Once alone with Olivia, Stephanie barely glanced at her. Olivia, angered by Stephanieโ€™s arrogance, declared, โ€œChris is buying Whispering Bay for me. You know that, right?โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t we discuss this on the phone? I told you, you canโ€™t live there,โ€ Stephanie replied.

โ€œBut Chris told me today he already bought it and is working on it. Heโ€™ll let me move in soon to recuperate,โ€ Olivia said smugly.

Stephanie raised an eyebrow. โ€œThatโ€™s what he told you?โ€ She mused, Heโ€™s really trying to appease Olivia.

Olivia nodded. โ€œAre you envious?โ€

Stephanie rolled her eyes. โ€œCongratulations. When are you moving in? Party? Remember to invite me.โ€

โ€œOf course. Iโ€™ll be moved in within half a month,โ€ Olivia promised. For years, wealthy families had coveted Whispering Bay, those unable to purchase it relentlessly pursuing the owner, hoping to marry their daughters to him. Olivia firmly believed she would soon be its mistress, the envy of all Long Harbor women.

โ€œStephanie, I told you to leave Long Harbor. Nothing here belongs to you,โ€ Olivia declared, her tone brimming with triumph.

Upon Stephanieโ€™s return, Olivia, lying in her hospital bed, reiterated her warning: leave Long Harbor; the Hart family was not her place.

Stephanie chuckled. โ€œYouโ€™re quite arrogant, arenโ€™t you?โ€ An adopted daughter, so arrogantโ€ฆhow ridiculous, she thought.

Olivia asked, โ€œHave you decided to leave yet?โ€

โ€œLeave? Do you think you can threaten me?โ€ Stephanie sneered. Threatening me here? How ridiculous!

Olivia declared, โ€œI know you have a lucrative studio, earning over two million dollars a year. But donโ€™t worry, that wonโ€™t last much longer.โ€ Her smugness intensified.

โ€œHow so?โ€ Stephanie asked, her eyes hardening.

Olivia explained, โ€œYour brother and ex-fiancรฉ have joined forces to shut down your studio.โ€

This wasnโ€™t unexpected. Stephanie knew Chris and Tyler would likely sabotage her. Hearing Olivia's gossipy tone, however, only further chilled her.

Olivia sneered, โ€œYour family never accepted you, and Chris never loved you. Youโ€™ve been back in Long Harbor for so long with nothing to show for it. Why bother annoying people? It's best for everyone if you leave.โ€

โ€œYou want me to leave that much?โ€ Stephanie asked, pausing her nail filing, her gaze unwavering. She hadnโ€™t expected Olivia's urgency. โ€œSo anxious for me to leave? Olivia, let me guessโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhy would I be in a hurry?โ€ Olivia interrupted, her heart pounding. She was desperate for Stephanie to leave before the truth came out.

Stephanie raised an eyebrow and chuckled. โ€œReally? But why do I feel like youโ€™re in such a hurry?โ€

Olivia was stunned.
