Listen to this chapter:

Catlin had been tricked into signing severance papers, only to find Stephanie reneging on her promise regarding Doctors Vitale and Pierce.

โ€œYouโ€ฆ youโ€™ve crossed the line!โ€

Catlin, furious, gasped for breath. Her vision blurred, and she fainted.

Stephanie calmly phoned Jennifer. โ€œCall an ambulance. Someone passed out.โ€

Jenniferโ€™s voice rose. โ€œWait, what? Passed out? Here?โ€ Mrs. Hart appeared perfectly healthy. This better not be a staged stunt.

โ€œIโ€™m on it.โ€

Jennifer, suspicious, called 911 multiple times to expedite the response. Within fifteen minutes, the ambulance arrived, taking Catlin away.

Returning, Jennifer wiped sweat from her brow. โ€œBoss, that woman either has a heart condition, or youโ€™re being scammed.โ€ Knowing the Hartsโ€™ reputation, she suspected a cash grab.

Stephanie leaned back, unimpressed. โ€œHeart condition? Nah, I just pissed her off.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€

โ€œI made her so mad she passed out.โ€

Jenniferโ€™s jaw dropped, but considering the Hartsโ€™ actions, she felt no sympathy for Catlin. โ€œAlright, enough gawking,โ€ Stephanie said. โ€œCheck your inbox.โ€

She slid a note across the deskโ€”an address and phone number Elliot had foundโ€”and instructed Jennifer to mail it. Tyler Hart had been surprisingly generous with his mistress, likely due to their child. She lived comfortably in a gated community, treated like a minor celebrity. He'd given her nearly everything short of the Mrs. Hart title.

โ€œOn it,โ€ Jennifer replied.

Catlinโ€™s dramatic fainting spell ensured Chris and Tyler would soon arrive at Stephanieโ€™s office, ready to cause trouble. Jennifer barely finished mailing the letter before reappearing. โ€œBoss, Tyler Hartโ€™s here.โ€ Her tone was dripping with contempt, revealing her awareness of the unearthed information.

A man cheating on his fiancรฉe wasn't shocking, but Tyler's behavior was exceptionally sleazy. Stephanie remained unfazed. โ€œLet him in. Oh, and send that woman a preview.โ€

โ€œGot it.โ€

Jennifer understood Stephanieโ€™s plan. The Harts wanted to make her life miserable? Excellent. She was about to turn their world upside down.

Tyler entered, his face thunderous. Days had passed since their last encounter, days heโ€™d spent investigating. He still didn't know Stephanie's mysterious backer. Recent events had been eye-opening, particularly Skyriver Travelโ€™s representative who bluntly stated, โ€œCut ties with her? We canโ€™t, and frankly, we wouldnโ€™t dare.โ€ They concluded with, โ€œBy the way, who the hell are you again?โ€

A company like Skyriver Travel, intimidated by Stephanie? The final question was a slap in the face, a clear indication that her backer was untouchable. Stephanie was heavily protected; they couldn't make a move against her. They'd underestimated herโ€”she was a spiked grenade. Touch her, and they'd bleed.
