Chapter 155: Resolution
โAre you okay now?โ He kept his voice calm, despite his own frayed nerves. Thinking about her earlier collapse only fueled her anger toward Stephanie.
โThe doctor said if we canโt get Doctors Vitale and Pierce back soon, Olivia has maybe three months left.โ
Tylerโs breath hitched. โThen do the surgery now. Clearly, we canโt rely on Stephanie.โ He didnโt hesitate. If they couldnโt save Oliviaโs uterus, so be it. Saving her life was all that mattered. Stephanie, that heartless woman, would likely celebrate Oliviaโs death.
But his motherโs response stunned him. โItโs not that simple.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
โThe cancer is spreading rapidly. They said weโve missed the optimal time for surgery. Even if they operate now, theyโre unsure sheโll survive.โ
It all came down to Doctors Vitale and Pierce. They were Oliviaโs only hope. โIf weโd acted a few days ago, maybeโฆ But now, weโre out of time.โ
Tylerโs voice tightened. โItโs only been a few days!โ
โTo us, yes. But for someone with advanced cancer, every hour counts.โ Oliviaโs body was battling multiple conditions.
Tylerโs breathing grew shallow.
โAnd Stephanieโฆโ His motherโs voice trembled with rage. โShe lied to me.โ
Tylerโs fists clenched, his nails digging into his palms. โShe deceived you?โ He already knew Stephanie had sent his mother to the hospital; this only intensified his fury.
โShe promised that if I signed the disownment papers, sheโd bring back Doctors Vitale and Pierce. I signed, and now sheโs pretending it never happened.โ Tyler knew that was the agreement. Heโd even wondered why his mother hadnโt signed immediately. Saving Olivia should have been the priority. It turned out Stephanie never intended to involve Doctors Vitale or Pierce, regardless of whether his mother signed.
Furious, Tyler snapped, โThis is insane! Iโm going there right now!โ He spun, ready to confront her.
But as he hung up, Sebastianโs face flashed in his mindโthat cold, lethal presence. If he went back now, it wouldnโt be a confrontation; it would be a bloodbath. His body shook with rage and helplessness.
Before he could act, his phone buzzed again. This time, it was his father. Before Tyler could speak, Chadโs voice, sharp and direct, cut through. โGet to the office. Now.โ
โWhatโs going on?โ
โSomething happened.โ
The tone alone sent a chill down Tylerโs spine. He glanced at the Eastview Tower entrance, briefly considering pursuing Stephanie, but ultimately turned and left.
Meanwhile, back in the office, Stephanie was in a full-blown panic. She lunged for the velvet box in Sebastianโs hand, but too late. Sebastian smoothly evaded her and opened the box. His eyes fell upon the massive diamond ring, then slowly shifted to Stephanie. โStefi, care to explain this?โ
His voice was gentle, almost unnervingly so. That gentleness sent a wave of fear through Stephanie. She stammered, โItโs not what you think! Thatโthing, itโs nothing! The guy who gave it to me? A complete psycho! I swear!โ
That โapology giftโ from Jackson? She had no idea it was an engagement ring. Who gifts a giant diamond to apologize?
She was doomed.
