Chapter 163
Catlin reassured her, "They should have been changed." Chris had been so attentive lately; she felt he should have been preparing the house these past two days.
"Don't worry," Catlin said. "Chris only has eyes for you. You shouldn't be so downhearted. It's bad for your health."
Remembering the doctors' words, Catlin couldn't help but feel worried. She wasn't even sure if Olivia would pull through this time.
Olivia murmured, "I just can't help but feel like this timeโฆ"
"Stop," Catlin interrupted. Sometimes, a person's intuition was terrifying.
"The doctors said your condition has been well-controlled these past two days," Catlin said. "Don't overthink it."
Olivia looked at her tearfully. "Really?"
"Of course," Catlin replied, nodding firmly.
Olivia, reassured, finally felt much better and, after much effort, Catlin coaxed her to sleep. Then, Catlin stepped into the hospital corridor to call Tyler, but he didn't answer. She called several times, each call automatically declined. Unknown to her, Tyler had been summoned to the company by Chad and had been in meetings ever since, even at three in the morning.
Catlin glanced at the closed hospital room door with a heavy heart, feeling overwhelmingly helpless and alone.
The meeting between Tyler and Chad didn't end until after seven in the morning. Both men looked exhausted. As they returned to the office, Chad noticed the bruises on Tyler's face.
"What happened to your face?" Chad asked.
Caught off guard, Tyler's expression was grim. He instinctively touched his face, the sharp pain from the swelling making him gasp.
"I accidentally bumped into something," he mumbled.
"On both sides?" Chad frowned. The bruises didn't look like simple accidents.
Tyler remained silent. To explain the injuries meant revealing Stephanie's involvement, and also the phone call from his mother the previous day.
Seeing Tyler's reluctance, Chad didn't press. He massaged his temples and sighed. "Do you think someone is targeting us? Suddenly, numerous business partners are terminating contracts, some even cutting off resources completely."
Tyler frowned and glanced at Chad.
"Could it be the Ashfords?" Chad asked.
"It shouldn't be them," Tyler replied without hesitation. "Chris wouldn't allow it." Although the Ashford family was dissatisfied with the Harts, they wouldn't act now. Even if they did, their influence wouldn't be this severe.
Chad's expression darkened. "Then who could it be?"
Tyler remained silent, a face flashing through his mindโthe man from Stephanie's office. Could it be him?
At Whispering Bay, Stephanie stared at the bruises covering her neck, her heart tightening with anxiety. She'd been hiding in her room, listening for the sound of car engines. But even by nine in the morning, she hadn't heard Sebastian leave. Instead, he knocked on her door.
"Stefi, it's time to get up," he said.
"I want to sleep a little longer," she replied. The bruises covered too much of her skin; even her lips were injured. If he saw, he would surely ask questions she couldn't answer. 'What a mess,' she thought.
