Chapter 185

Trouble. As in Olivia. Grace had seen through the Hart family years ago. The whole bunch was rotten, and Olivia? Even worse. Too bad their idiot son was still blind to it.

Chris exhaled sharply. โ€œIโ€™m meeting the Lucano heir soon. Donโ€™t worry, the minerals we need arenโ€™t going anywhere.โ€

Fred scoffed. โ€œYou finally give a damn? Let me guess, because of her?โ€ He knew Chris was panicking for Olivia's sake. Just as Chris turned to leave, Fredโ€™s voice dropped to an icy tone. โ€œIf the deal is signed tomorrowโ€ฆ As for Oliviaโ€ฆโ€ He didnโ€™t finish, but Chris felt the threat. His expression darkened. โ€œLeave her alone.โ€

Fred flicked his ashes. โ€œThat depends on you.โ€ Chris barely made it out of the office. Kevin followed, silent and respectful. The second Chris slid into the car, Kevin handed him a fresh shirtโ€”his was soaked from a spilled water cup. โ€œYou need to get that cut looked at?โ€ Kevin asked, glancing at the wound on Chrisโ€™s forehead. Fred hadnโ€™t held back.

Chrisโ€™s voice was cold. โ€œFind out where the Lucano heir is. Now.โ€

Hearing that name, Kevin felt a headache coming on. That guy was as impossible to deal with as the man around Stephanie. He hesitated. โ€œActuallyโ€ฆ I just got a call.โ€

Chris narrowed his eyes. โ€œWhat call?โ€

Kevin hesitated. โ€œThe Lucano familyโ€™s chosen partner might be the Hodge family.โ€

Chris stiffened. โ€œThe Hodges? Jackson Hodge?โ€

Kevin nodded. โ€œSeems like it.โ€ The news wasn't fully confirmed, but it was looking that way. Chrisโ€™s jaw clenched. Jackson. That bastard had spent years competing with him, and now this?

Without another word, Chris called Jackson. โ€œHello?โ€ Chris didnโ€™t bother with pleasantries. โ€œYouโ€™re partnering with the Lucanos?โ€

At the Hodge estate, Jackson was still fuming after bringing Lilian home. So when Chris called, he didnโ€™t bother hiding his irritation. โ€œWhat, got a problem?โ€ Jackson snapped.

Chrisโ€™s tone was sharp. โ€œHowโ€™d you pull it off? Guess I really underestimated you.โ€

Jackson laughed dryly. โ€œYou wanted it so bad? Shouldโ€™ve made a move yourself. Donโ€™t whine to me just because you lost.โ€ Chris couldnโ€™t even get a meeting with the Lucano heir, yet he had the nerve to complain? Pathetic. Jackson smirked. โ€œBut hey, let me make it easy for youโ€”you could pull every trick in the book, and you still wouldnโ€™t land this deal.โ€ Because Stephanie wouldnโ€™t allow it. Sebastian guarded his sister like a hawk.

Meanwhile, at the Giovanni manor, Stephanieโ€™s pulse jumped when she saw Sebastian pick up his wine glass. Just as he lifted it, she grabbed his wrist. Sebastian frowned. โ€œStefi?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll drink for you,โ€ Stephanie said, reaching for his glass. She wasn't letting him have another drop. Dealing with someone who blacked out every time they drank was beyond frustrating. Heโ€™d gotten drunk before, but he wasnโ€™t this much trouble then. Now? Two times in a row, and both times heโ€™d completely lost control.
