Seeing Macro, Stephanie winced and instinctively didn't want to talk to him. However, Macro sat across from her and said, “I have to admit, your friend is really bold. I think when her boldness messes with Lorenzo, it might actually be Lorenzo who ends up disadvantaged.”

Stephanie retorted, “Shut up. She just lost her footing, and it was an accident. The fact that she was so fed up with talking to Mart made her feel like she was going to burst.”

Macro smirked, “Over the years, many women have lost their balance around Lorenzo, but I’ve never seen a rose due to just undressing his—”

“You better stop,” Stephanie interrupted, embarrassed by Macro’s slip. “Honestly, it’s a wonder anyone has managed to keep your mouth in check.”

Macro was about to snap back when he caught Sebastian’s dark look. He thought better of it and kept quiet.

Stephanie called out, “Sebastian.”

Sebastian gave in. “Okay, I’ll give Lorenzo a call.”

Macro thought, Well, only Stephanie could mess with Sebastian like this?

Sebastian picked up the phone and called Lorenzo. But there was no answer, and it automatically hung up at the end.

Stephanie heard the final beep from the phone, and her heart tightened immediately.

Sebastian said, “The two sides must have already clashed.”

Stephanie fell silent. ‘Uh, Ella, I tried my hardest. But the timing just wasn’t right. If only you’d called sooner, maybe I could’ve helped you out!’

Meanwhile, Ella was curled up under Lorenzo’s legs, trembling. Since getting in the car, she hadn’t been able to move from under Lorenzo’s legs. She hugged her head with her hands, eyes tightly shut.

Outside, there were sounds of explosions and gunfire. The continuous thudding was so intense, it felt like her heart would stop beating.

She silently prayed to her ancestors, hoping they’d somehow help her through this. The past two days had been a nightmare, with one dangerous situation after another.

The car kept moving very quickly, making Ella’s curled-up body unsteady. The space under Lorenzo’s legs was cramped, and her waist kept brushing against his calves.

As another explosion sounded, Ella screamed in fear. She felt like her eardrums would burst, as if those things might tear her apart at any moment. Terror, fear, and helplessness overwhelmed her.

This scene continued for over an hour before the car finally stopped. A man’s voice came from outside the window, speaking in a foreign language to Lorenzo, “All clear. I’ll take Cecil to check the supplies.”

Lorenzo just gave a grunt in response. Even such a simple reply sounded dangerous to Ella. She was terrified.

Back in Long Harbor, she used to think she’d seen it all. But now, she realized she hadn’t—not storms big enough to make her feel like she might be swept away at any moment.

The commotion stopped. Ella’s body was still shaking.

It seemed like Lorenzo had forgotten she was there. He picked up the phone to call Sebastian, crossing his legs.

A muffled sound came from beneath his legs, causing Lorenzo to pause. Looking down, he saw a trembling Ella and realized she was still there.

Sebastian answered the phone on the other end. “It’s over?”

Lorenzo replied, “Yeah. The Dohrn family was very cautious this time, so it took a bit longer.”

Sebastian instructed, “Make sure everything is dealt with.”

“Understood,” Lorenzo replied respectfully. Just as he was about to hang up, Sebastian asked, “Is Ella with you?”

“Yeah, she’s right below me.”

Sebastian had put the phone on speaker while asking about Ella. Hearing what Lorenzo just said, Stephanie and Macro exchanged glances, both in shock.
