Sebastian took the blanket off Stephanie’s head and gently pinched her cheek. Stephanie gave him a resentful look. “Didn’t the doctor say I…”

“Yeah, he did,” Sebastian nodded.

“Then why did you still…” Stephanie accused, her voice trailing off. Even though Sebastian hadn’t actually done anything to her, his demeanor—like he might devour her at any moment—still frightened her.

Before, there was an invisible barrier between them, and she had all sorts of expectations for him. It even felt like she could never clearly see the future. Suddenly, they were together, and she finally realized how wild he was.

Seeing her lost in thought, Sebastian asked, “What are you thinking about?”

Stephanie mumbled, “Thinking about how bad you are.” Not just any kind of bad.

Sebastian chuckled softly, “Yeah, but you like that.”

This jerk. Stephanie fell silent. When a supposedly honorable person let loose, it was even harder to handle, and with Sebastian being like this now, Stephanie felt a bit helpless.

Just as the two were about to say something, Sebastian’s phone rang; it was Elliot calling. Sebastian pressed the answer button and said, “Speak.”

“He’s shown up,” Elliot said.

Sebastian’s gentle demeanor turned icy in an instant. He simply said, “Okay,” before hanging up.

He then glanced at Stephanie lying on the bed and gently brushed the hair off her forehead. “Sleep tight. I’ll be back soon.”

Stephanie asked, “Are you going out?”

“Yeah, I’ll be back in two hours,” Sebastian replied. The way he emphasized the time felt like a husband letting his wife know his plans, which warmed Stephanie’s heart.

After Sebastian left, her phone buzzed. It was Ella. She answered right away and said, “Ella, do you still have the energy to check out the gossip now?”

So much had happened in just a few hours. Lorenzo had mentioned that Ella was so scared she fainted, and yet, even all the way in Fiorenza, she had the energy to follow the Long Harbor drama.

Ella replied, “Yeah, I’m about to go crazy with fear. Can’t I at least check the gossip to ease my nerves? Don’t talk about my bad luck; let’s dive into some juicy stories.”

Stephanie thought, ‘Well, at least Ella could still chat about gossip to calm herself down. That’s not bad.’

“You have no idea how scary Lorenzo is. I mean, really…” Ella paused. “Ugh, let’s not talk about him anymore, or I might faint again.”

Just thinking about what Lorenzo put her through made Ella’s heart race with fear. In short, it was really scary.

“Alright, alright, let’s not talk about him anymore.” Stephanie comforted Ella softly. When she heard Sebastian say that Lorenzo took Ella to confront the Dohrn family, she knew it was definitely more frightening than what happened at Long Harbor airport.

Still, she admired Ella. To faint from fear yet manage to adjust herself like that—Ella had an extraordinary inner strength.

Ella changed the subject. “Amber’s something else, taking on the whole Hart family by herself: It seemed like Amber was ready to go all out.”

“You’re right,” Stephanie said. Everyone in the Hart family was supporting Olivia, while Amber was making all this noise against her—it was like she was taking on the whole family.

Ella laughed. “She’s so bold, and I kind of admire her. What’s got her making such a scene today? She even threatened to jump off with her baby.”

“Even though I don’t agree with her dragging the child into this drama, if she doesn’t take a hard stand against the Hart family, she won’t get anywhere.”

“The people in the Hart family are bullies who prey on the weak. This time, they’ve finally met their match; just look at the chaos it’s caused; it’s total madness over there.”

Although Stephanie hadn’t experienced any losses with the Hart family and had managed to stir up plenty of chaos while distancing herself from it, Ella was still thrilled to see the Hart family struggling—that was karma for them.
