Chapter 414

After receiving a phone call, Sebastian went straight to his study. Henry looked at Stephanie with respect. “Are you sure you don’t want the fish for lunch?”

Stephanie used to love eating fish, and since moving here, there was almost always fish on the table. But now, she just waved her hand. “No, I really can’t stand the smell anymore.” She felt that something was off about the fish today. But since Henry had said it was fresh when it arrived, she didn’t bother to mention it again.

Henry nodded. “Alright.”

Just as Stephanie settled down on the couch, she received a call from Allison. On the phone, Allison said, “I just heard from Yanis that Catlin has been desperately trying to borrow money from wealthy ladies these past few days.”

“Borrow money?” Stephanie asked, surprised. It seemed Catlin was truly desperate now, humbling herself to ask for loans from those wealthy women. After all, she had always taken pride in herself. When the Hart family was well-off, Catlin had wanted to give Olivia the best of everything. Now, Olivia needed a significant amount of money for medical expenses. Even though the Hart family’s fortune had crumbled, she was willing to overlook her pride for Olivia’s sake. She had even approached those rich ladies she had never wanted to show vulnerability to, asking for help. However, not only did she fail to secure any funds, but she ended up losing both her dignity and pride as well.

“Yeah, can’t the Hart family even come up with millions now?” Allison asked. She had thought she could stir things up and make them spend their last bit of money, but they had nothing left to give.

“Most likely, yes,” Stephanie replied. After all, she knew better than anyone what the Hart family had gone through recently.

“That’s really unfortunate,” Allison noted.

Stephanie remained silent. After all, not everyone could handle a word from Sebastian. If the Hart family knew how he dealt with people on the edge in Fiorenza, they’d realize their current struggles were just a minor hiccup. Yet, even that minor hiccup had completely destroyed them.

“Hey, there’s something else I need to tell you,” Allison added.

“What is it?” Stephanie asked.

“I overheard something. Not sure if it’s true, but I heard Olivia and the Hart Group’s finance director are very close.”

Stephanie was taken aback. “The one who had a child with Chad?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you sure?” Stephanie asked. ‘Olivia is getting along with that woman? What’s that supposed to mean?’

“Not sure, but it’s pretty likely. I heard they often ate and shopped together before.”

Stephanie’s mouth twitched. This is getting interesting. That woman has twins with Chad, and now Olivia is on good terms with her. Well, Catlin has been trying to protect such an ungrateful daughter?

“Plus, that woman got into the Hart Group because of Olivia. They say Olivia’s been secretly supporting and promoting her.”

Even her getting into the company was through Olivia, and Olivia even promoted her if that’s true, worry heating up Stephanie gasped. This is expansive news.

“Yeah, so how blind is your mom to treat her like a…?” Allison whispered, “Years of effort… one word… if the truth came out, it might just make Catlin furious enough to explode.”

Stephanie asked, “Are all these rumors confirmed?”

“Didn’t I say they’re uncertain, just rumors and hearsay?” Allison replied.

“There’s no smoke without fire,” Stephanie remarked. Since the story was already out, the woman who had children with Chad was likely linked to Olivia in some way.

Allison said, “You’re spot on.”

Stephanic shrugged.

Allison sighed dramatically, “Poor Catlin. She’s still going around humbly borrowing money to save Olivia.”

“Olivia seems quite capable. But does that medicine really work?” Stephanie asked. If Allison was just bluffing, then Catlin and Olivia were really at a loss.

Allison said, “It definitely has some effect, but whether it can save her life, who can tell? Her body is in such bad condition. Saving her would be very difficult.”

Stephanie stayed silent, thinking it made sense. Allison continued, “After all, people have to accept fate. Olivia’s situation is a classic case of fate having its way.”

Stephanie couldn’t help but think, ‘Allison’s mouth can really compete with Ella’s. If the medicine doesn’t work out, that will be millions wasted – such a harsh reality for Catlin and Olivia!’

“If she can’t survive, you won’t have to take action again. Even if she does make it, it would be a miserable life,” said Allison.

After all, if Olivia managed to survive, Stephanie wouldn’t just let it go. It would mean spending the rest of Olivia’s life mired in deep trouble.

Stephanie said, “Why don’t you verify the rumors?” Although Allison had insisted it was just a rumor, there was a part of Stephanie that hoped it was true.

If it turned out to be real, Catlin would definitely go ballistic. She might even tear Olivia apart, considering how much time she had devoted to the family over the years. With Chad’s recent attitude, it felt like everything Catlin had done over the years was for nothing. He took all the remaining money and left, and Olivia was behind it all. Just thinking about Catlin finding out made Stephanie feel excited.

Allison replied, “Ella should handle this; she knows a lot of people.”
