Chapter 528

After a while, Stephanie realized she wasnโ€™t going to be able to take Ella with her. Lorenzo was being stubborn, and Bernardโ€™s attitude was starting to get on her nerves. Frustrated, Stephanie plopped onto the couch in the living room.

Ella sat next to her, gripping her arm tightly and looking visibly shaken. Right now, her biggest fear was that Stephanie might leave.

Bernard crossed his arms and said seriously, โ€œMs. Turner, holding onto Stephanie isnโ€™t going to change anything. Theyโ€™re still going to investigate you.โ€

Seeing how they were treating Ella made Stephanieโ€™s blood boil. โ€œMacroโ€™s already gone to Moalee Desert. You know that, right?โ€

Bernard thought, Whatโ€™s she trying to say by bringing that up?

โ€œStephanie, what do you mean by that?โ€ he asked, looking confused.

Stephanie straightened up and shot back, โ€œWhat I mean is, if you say another word, Iโ€™ll tell Sebastian to send you there with him.โ€

There was no way Bernard would go to that godforsaken Moalee Desert.

Ella, still trembling, saw how easily Stephanie had shut Bernard down. Stephanie had real power here, and it made Ella feel a little better. She sniffled, gripping Stephanieโ€™s arm more tightly. โ€œStefi, you canโ€™t leave me.โ€

If Stephanie left now, Ella knew she wouldnโ€™t survive. This place was too terrifying. One wrong move from her, and these people could ruin her. In their territory, no one would listen to her, no matter what she said.

Stephanie nodded, her voice firm as she said, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Iโ€™m not leaving you.โ€

Bernard didnโ€™t give up. โ€œStephanie, Lorenzo told me I have to take you back myself. Why donโ€™t you just get in the car?โ€

Stephanie shook her head. โ€œIโ€™m not going.โ€

Bernard clenched his teeth. โ€œSo, what exactly are you doing here? You canโ€™t just sit around. Weโ€™re not letting you take Ms. Turner.โ€

Ella squeezed Stephanieโ€™s arm even more tightly. If she couldnโ€™t leave, then neither could Stephanie.

Seeing Ellaโ€™s panicked look, Bernard was starting to get agitated. โ€œMs. Turner, please let go of Stephanie.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not letting go. Stefi, youโ€™re not leaving.โ€ Ellaโ€™s voice cracked with fear.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m not going,โ€ Stephanie replied.

Bernardโ€™s frustration was obvious. โ€œLorenzo said I have to take you back.โ€

He thought, And once you leave, youโ€™re not allowed to come back here! They hadnโ€™t expected thisโ€”Stephanie showing up like this. If theyโ€™d known, they wouldโ€™ve stopped her at the door. Now, the whole situation was awkward. Ella was scared. Stephanie wasnโ€™t leaving, and Lorenzo had ordered Bernard to make sure she did. It was a mess.

โ€œIโ€™m not going,โ€ Stephanie said, her voice firmer now, knowing Ella was scared. There was no way she was leaving.

Bernard sighed heavily. โ€œFine. Just wait for Mr. Giovanni to come and pick you up.โ€

Stephanie wasnโ€™t backing down, and they couldnโ€™t afford to be too hard on her. She was Sebastianโ€™s favorite, and anyone who tried to mess with her wouldnโ€™t last long.

Bernard headed upstairs to report to Lorenzo.

Downstairs, it was just Stephanie and Ella. Ellaโ€™s eyes filled with tears. โ€œStefi, please donโ€™t leave me.โ€

Stephanie nodded gently. โ€œI wonโ€™t leave you.โ€

Ella sniffled and hugged Stephanie, her tears and snot soaking into Stephanieโ€™s sleeve. โ€œI love you so much. Youโ€™re all I have left.โ€

Stephanie didnโ€™t mind. She grabbed a tissue and handed it to Ella. โ€œAlright, no more crying.โ€

Ella took the tissue and wiped her face. โ€œI swear I didnโ€™t mean to. Those two medicines look exactly the same.โ€

Stephanie nodded. โ€œI believe you.โ€
