Chapter 535

Downstairs, Stephanie sat on the couch, turning her face to the side with her arms crossed over her chest. She looked mad. Sebastian tried to calm her. “Ella can’t leave today. Come with me. Let’s go back.”

“I don’t want to,” Stephanie muttered.

Sebastian rubbed his forehead, but before he could say anything else, Ella’s voice came from the top of the stairs, “Seed, you should head back.”

Hearing Ella’s voice, Stephanie looked up. “Huh?”

Ella waved her hand. “Well, just go back. I’m fine here.”

Stephanie thought, ‘Who was crying on the phone to me all day, calling me nonstop? Now you suddenly say you’re fine?’

“Did Lorenzo threaten you?” Stephanie asked.

Ella muttered, “Uh, no. Oh, I can’t explain it right now. Just go back for now.”

Ella didn’t really know how to explain. “I’ll call you if something happens. Just go, please.”

Stephanie thought, ‘She’s really telling me to leave? Wait. Wasn’t she crying on the phone begging me to hurry and come get her? Now she’s telling me to go?’

As Ella turned to leave, Stephanie quickly called after her, “Wait.”

Ella turned back. Stephanie asked, “You’re really not coming with me?”

Ella nodded slightly.

Stephanie asked again, “Is it really not Lorenzo threatening you?”

Stephanie couldn’t believe this sudden change in Ella. She was sure Ella must’ve been threatened.

Ella shook her head firmly. “Really not.”

Stephanie thought, ‘Really not? That’s a huge change from a minute ago when she was crying and begging me not to leave her.’

Ella rubbed her hands together and said seriously, “Just go back for now.”

Even though Stephanie didn’t believe it, Ella wasn’t saying anything more and wasn’t coming with her.

As Ella was about to turn and head back to Lorenzo’s room, Stephanie stopped her again. “Wait.”

Ella turned back, and Stephanie said, “From now on, don’t get involved with anything to do with Lorenzo. Don’t do anything.”

Ella froze for a second and then nodded. “Okay.”

Stephanie added, “Don’t do anything. Like, don’t even offer a glass of water. Nothing.”

She didn’t want the mess with the wrong medicine and everything else with Lorenzo to happen again. If it did, no one would be able to explain it.

Chapter 125

Ella forced a smile, and she nodded firmly. Steff’s right. Why should I do everything for him? I’m not close to Lorenzo. I owe him for saving me in Long Harbor, but that doesn’t mean I have to be his maid. There are other ways to repay him, she thought.

Scanian and Stephanie’s had “Let’s go.” Then he pulled her out of the room.

Stephane muttered, “Do you think Lorenzo threatened Ella? Tell me.”

Sebastian turned back and gave her a playful, affectionate look. “You came all the way here. Who would dare threaten her?”

Stephacie nodded and said, “True.” It wasn’t just the people around Lorenzo—even Lorenzo himself would have to show her some respect.

“Wait. That’s not right,” Stephanie thought. “When I told Lorenzo I was going to take Ella away earlier, he wouldn’t even agree,” she said. This time, when it came to Ella, Lorenzo didn’t give her an inch of respect.

Sebastian led Stephanie outside and into the car, not answering her question. He pulled her onto his lap, and Stephanie squirmed a little. “What are you doing? Put me down. I want to sit on my own.”

Sebastian smiled and said, “The medical team’s already set things up. We’re going back for a check-up, okay?”

Stephanie looked down. “But I’m starving.”

It was already noon. She had planned to go back to the Giovanni residence after picking up Ella, but now, she’d been delayed for so long. The worst part was that she hadn’t eaten a thing.

Hearing her, Sebastian laughed softly. “Alright, let’s eat first.”

“Are we eating at home?” Stephanie asked.

“Yeah, we’re eating at home,” Sebastian replied. Now that they were back here, of course, they’d eat at home. There were plenty of restaurants in Fiorenza that Stephanie liked, but right now, all she wanted was to go home.

The car slowly made its way down the familiar road. Stephanie looked out the window at the palm trees lining the street, and even the air smelled familiar in its own way.

About half an hour later, the car reached the hill outside the city center. As they turned a corner, the entire city of Fiorenza spread out in front of them. This was always Stephanie’s favorite spot whenever she went out. Especially at night, when the lights of the whole city glittered beneath her.

Stephanie leaned her head against the window, and Sebastian pulled her back into his arms. “What are you staring at so intently?”

Stephanie shrugged slightly. “Just figuring out where I’m gonna eat the next few days.”

Sebastian chuckled softly with a teasing smile on his face. ‘When she was in Long Harbor, she had no appetite. Now that she’s back, she’s all about food again,’ he thought.

“You’re cheeky,” he said, his voice soft. “If you’re really pregnant, you won’t be able to go out to eat whenever you want.” As he spoke, he kissed the back of her neck.

Stephanie felt a tingling sensation, and she couldn’t help but fall into his embrace. Their eyes met. Stephanie’s gaze, which was soft and misty, made Sebastian’s heart melt. His lips then gently found hers.

Stephanie nervously grabbed the collar of her shirt. “Stop…”
