Chapter 59
โItโs nothing serious, Mr. Giovanni,โ Jackson sighed, attempting to change the subject. โLilian doesnโt know how to behave. Letโs head back and finish the contractโฆโ
โMr. Hodge,โ Sebastian interrupted, โif you canโt manage your own family, we need to reconsider this collaboration.โ
Jackson froze. He couldnโt understand the relevance of his family drama to the business deal. Before he could react, Sebastian was already descending the stairs, leaving Jackson bewildered.
The ambulance arrived shortly afterward, transporting Tyler. Lilian prepared to follow. Jackson grabbed her arm. โWhere do you think youโre going?โ
โTyler was beaten up by Stephanie! Iโm going to the hospital with him,โ Lilian replied. As Tylerโs girlfriend, she felt entitled to accompany him. But Jackson despised Lilian and the Hart family. He found Olivia superficial and couldnโt comprehend Lilian's association with them. Now that Tyler was injured, he suspected Stephanie had finally lost her temper.
Seeing Lilianโs hasty departure, Jacksonโs anger flared. โWhere do you think youโre going?โ he yelled. โGo back to your room! Youโre embarrassing the family!โ
โWhat are you talking about?โ Lilian retorted. โLet go of me!โ
Jackson sighed and addressed the butler, โDerek, take Lilian to her room.โ
The butler promptly obeyed. Lilian panicked, realizing Jackson was serious. โWhat are you doing?โ she protested, refusing to leave for the hospital.
Jackson gave her a warning glare. โWeโll talk later.โ He then stormed out, leaving Lilian furious. Sebastian had finally agreed to meetโnow Lilian was ruining everything. Jackson was enraged. Behind him, chaos erupted. Worried about Jacksonโs temper, Derek had Lilian forcibly escorted upstairs.
Inside the car, tension was palpable. Sebastianโs expression was stormy; Stephanie sat silently, hesitant to speak.
โDid they bully you?โ Sebastian asked, glancing at her.
โNo, they didnโt,โ Stephanie replied, shaking her head.
Macro quickly added, โI can vouch for her. She wasnโt bullied.โ
After all, who would dare bully Stephanie? The woman was capable of sending someone to the hospital. But Sebastianโs grim expression remained until both his and Stephanieโs phones rang simultaneouslyโone from Ella, the other from Jackson.
โHey Ella,โ Stephanie answered.
โStefi, are you okay?โ Ella asked, her voice filled with concern. She wondered how Stephanie had ended up leaving with Macro, an internationally famous figure far more prominent than Allison. How did Stephanie know him?
โNo worries, Iโll take you for some Mexican food tomorrow,โ Stephanie said quickly, ending the call. โI need to go now.โ
Sebastian, however, ignored his call. Hearing Stephanie mention dinner, his face darkened. Jackson called again; Sebastian immediately hung up and blocked the number.
โI really wasnโt bullied. Can you stop looking at me like that?โ Stephanie muttered.
Sebastianโs voice was icy. โReally?โ
โReally,โ Stephanie insisted.
Sebastian let out a frustrated sound. โIs this how youโve been handling things all these years?โ
Stephanie fell silent. His words struck a chord. He was right. People always said you had to endure hardship to gain love and support. She pondered that perhaps her unpopularity stemmed from her unwillingness to be pushed around.
