Chapter 591

Stephanie felt a twinge in her chest. Henry comforted her, “Michael just cares about you. Everyone became even sadder because they couldn’t find Stephanie over the past years.”

Beth said, “Alright, she’s back now. Let’s not talk about it anymore, or Stephanie might get scared off again.”

Michael just let out a cold snort.

Beth urged him to stop talking, worried he might scare Stephanie. To Beth, Stephanie was timid and could easily get scared again.

Michael asked, “Whose child is she carrying?”

Beth was speechless.

“If she dares to conceive someone else’s child, just don’t let her eat dinner.” Talking about pregnancy made Michael even angrier.

Beth replied, “Lottie said it’s Sebastian’s.”

Michael said, “Oh, that’s good.”

Stephanie fell silent.

After he heard it was Sebastian’s, Michael calmed down right away, and his expression softened a lot. “That’s better. It seems like Stephanie hasn’t gone completely rebellious.”

Beth went silent immediately. She thought Michael’s attitude changed too quickly.

Stephanie peeked her head out from the hallway, watching Beth longingly. This morning, Sebastian styled her hair into a bun. Right now, her head peeked out, looking adorably well-behaved.

Beth was facing the door, and she froze for a moment when she saw Stephanie suddenly peek out. Beth laughed and called out, “Stefi?”

Hearing the voice, Michael also turned around. He had been quite angry, but seeing Stephanie’s head with her bangs clipped up by a pink hairpin lightened his mood.

Stephanie obediently called out, “Beth, Michael.” Her soft, sweet voice was heart-melting.

Beth responded with a nod, quickly stepping forward. She wore an elegant dress and looked gentle and loving.

“When did you arrive?” Beth asked, grabbing Stephanie’s hand. “Why are you here alone? Where’s Sebastian? Didn’t he say he’d come with you?”

Stephanie replied, “Something is happening with Sofia, so Sebastian went to handle it.”

“You should call him a more intimate name,” Beth gave her a fond look.

Stephanie bit her lip and looked down, staying quiet.

Beth said, “You can’t call him that anymore.”

Stephanie looked down. “Well, I’m just used to it.”

“You need to change that habit. Sebastian will soon be your husband,” Beth advised earnestly.

Stephanie and Sebastian were still in Long Harbor. Neither the Giovanni nor the Lucano family in Fiorenza needed a marriage to solidify their bond; Stephanie was raised by both families. When Stephanie was young, they likely didn’t think much of it. As Stephanie grew up, her closeness to Sebastian and his feelings for her were obvious to both families. Later, the way everyone guided her began to shift. Initially, they treated her like any other girl; eventually, they began preparing her to become the hostess of the Giovanni family.

Hearing Beth’s remarks, Stephanie mumbled, “Okay, I got it.”

Beth commented, “Look at you, so refined. But remember, no matter how strong a woman is, the most important thing is her husband.”

They’d already investigated Stephanie’s life in Long Harbor from the moment Sebastian found her. They were satisfied with Stephanie, that she would not let herself suffer and was tough—which was what they had always wanted to teach Stephanie.

Upon touching her cold hand, Beth couldn’t help but exclaim, “Why are your hands so cold? Sebastian really should have ensured you dressed warmly when going out. You can’t risk catching a cold now. Getting sick during pregnancy was tough since many medicines were off-limits.”

Stephanie replied, “I’m wearing plenty…”
