Stephanie didn’t think this was so-called “help.” But then she remembered how much Andrea had worried about Ella before she disappeared. ‘Sebastian’s right,’ she thought.

“Ella’s with Lorenzo,” Stephanie blurted out, her voice tinged with urgency. “And he thinks she’s working against him. I need to bring her back here.” She couldn’t shake the feeling that it was her duty to protect Ella, especially after everything Andrea had done for her.

Sebastian sighed, his expression turning thoughtful. He had hoped Stephanie would understand that Ella’s safety was the priority, but he hadn’t expected her to want to take Ella away from Lorenzo. He remembered how Ella and Stephanie had been inseparable back in Long Harbor. If Ella came here, they’d be together all the time, and he wasn’t sure if that was a good idea.

He rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache coming on. “I don’t think you’ll be able to take her away.”

Stephanie’s eyes widened in confusion. “Why not?”

“Because Lorenzo won’t let you,” Sebastian replied, his voice firm.

Is it because Ella practically stripped him? Stephanie felt a headache coming on just thinking about Ella’s impulsive behavior. She had no idea how Ella had managed to do that, but it was definitely absurd. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts.

“Is it because Lorenzo thinks she’s a snitch? Because I can guarantee she’s not capable of that. Ella’s not that clever.” She was confident in her assessment of Ella’s abilities. If Ella had any real skills, Andrea wouldn’t have been constantly asking for her help.

Sebastian’s eyes softened as he looked at her. “Lorenzo likes her.”

‘That story again,’ Stephanie thought, her mind racing. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was really true. She glanced at Sebastian, trying to read his expression, but he just looked thoughtful.

It wasn’t just Stephanie who had doubts; Ella herself was uncertain. When she received Stephanie’s call, Ella was nervously sitting in her room. “I… I saw Lorenzo leave, with a bunch of people, and snipers,” Ella replied.

Stephanie raised an eyebrow. “You usually don’t pay attention to these things, right? Like from a movie?” She paused. “Huh? How do you know?”

“Because there were people carrying long guns,” Ella explained.

Stephanie sighed inwardly. ‘Definitely learned that from movies. She didn’t really know what was going on. Since she could remember, Sebastian always made those arrangements without her knowing.

“Should I come pick you up?” Stephanie offered.

“I can help with that, but only for a short time. Your life can’t be peaceful anymore,” Stephanie said, her voice soft but firm. As harsh as it sounded, it was undeniable: Ella’s world had been completely shattered.
