Chapter 609
She happened to see Dan and Elenaโs engagement party with her own eyes when she rushed to Sandara. Pretending it didnโt bother her is dishonest. A dead man whoโd lived in her heart for years turned out to be alive and engaging someone else. Even the calmest person would have blown up then. Sofia definitely lost her temper.
Richard, of course, had heard about Sofiaโs infamous activities in Sandara. โYou going to Sandara basically ticked off the Rossi family as well.โ
Sofia scoffed, โSo what if I did? Who cares?โ
It didnโt matter. Over the years, many have been dissatisfied with the Giovanni family. The number of enemies didnโt make a difference. Anyway, everything just happened. Sheโd better be tougher.
They arrived at the civil affairs office. When the staff saw them return, their expressions immediately soured. Their eyes were cold and unwelcoming. After the chaos theyโd caused that morning, things had only just begun to settle down. Even though such scenes were relatively common in Fiorenza, the staff were still seething. This time, they felt no sympathy for Sofia for choosing such a man. The clerk took their documents and began typing furiously on the keyboard, the keys clacking loudly. It was clear she was venting her frustration.
Unable to take it out on Richard, she let the keyboard bear the brunt of her anger, pounding on it so hard it almost seemed to smoke within minutes.
For once, Sofia and Richard didnโt make a scene or act aggressively. In less than five minutes, two marriage certificates were slapped down in front of them. โYouโre done,โ the clerk said curtly.
Sofia was shocked. โAlready?โ
โThat was way too fast! Is going from single to married really just a few minutes? Why do so many single guys have such a hard time then?โ she thought.
The clerk took a sip of her coffee and nodded. โYep. If he ever gets abusive, youโll have a lot more options than just calling the police.โ
Sofia didnโt think that would happen.
Richardโs face darkened even further, and he glared at the clerk as if he could devour her whole. The clerk, however, was not intimidated. She shot Richard a challenging look right back.
Richard stood up abruptly, and Sofia, who was sitting next to him, jumped in surprise. โWhat are you doing?โ
Richardโs glare was intense, and for a moment, the clerk seemed a bit unnerved. His presence was just too overpowering. They werenโt wrong, though. The way he looked, he could definitely seem like the type to be abusive. Sofia tugged at his sleeve. โAlright, letโs go. Theyโre just doing their job. Come on, be good.โ
Sofia stood up and dragged Richard out. Even though he was fearless in Fiorenza, he knew better than to cause trouble here. This was not the place to act out. She quickly ushered him away.
The clerk watched them leave, shaking her head in disbelief. โHey, donโt you think these two are quite something? After all that drama this morning, theyโre actually here to get married?โ
This morning they were fighting, and by the afternoon, they were back again. They didnโt seem like the type to get married, yet here they were. The world was really unpredictableโone minute they were about to break up, and the next, they were still going through with the wedding despite the intense arguments.
The clerk, who had processed Sofia and Richardโs marriage certificate, slammed her coffee cup onto the table. โWell, just you wait; theyโll be back for a divorce within three months.โ
โWhat?โ
โDidnโt you see how he was an abusive partner and she wasnโt a pushover either? With this situation, in three months, either one of them will end up gone or theyโll hang on till the bitter end of this marriage.โ
The comment was harsh, but it seemed to reflect the reality of Richard and Sofiaโs behavior.
As they left the civil affairs office, Sofia felt a chill run down her spine. โWhoโs gossiping about me behind my back? If I find out, Iโll tear their tongue out.โ
Richard glanced at her as if sheโd lost her mind.
