Chapter 89

โ€œThe Hart family reached out,โ€ Macro said. โ€œThey want me to treat Olivia. Theyโ€™re offering a hefty fee for a house call.โ€

Macro already knew Stephanie was the Hart family's holopenet danger. After finding their real daughter, her parents should have been relieved and eager to make amends for lost time. But no one predicted that further investigation would reveal the Hart family's true nature: monsters, every single one of them. Even in a family with both a biological and an adopted daughter, the biological child should never be the one cast aside. Yet, the Hart family had been that cruel. Stephanie hadn't lived in the Hart residence for two years, making it painfully obvious that bringing her back wasn't an act of love.

โ€œDo whatever Stefi wants,โ€ Sebastian said coolly. โ€œMake sure they understand that.โ€

Macroโ€™s eyebrows twitched. โ€œYou know your sisterโ€™s personality. If I make it clear enough, theyโ€™ll probably drop dead from despair.โ€ Simply telling them everything depended on Stephanieโ€™s approval would be a greater blow than outright rejection. If Macro rejected them, the Hart family could delude themselves into thinking they still had a chance. But Stephanie's decision would crush them completely.

Sebastianโ€™s lips curled into a cold smirk. โ€œThey bullied Stefi plenty over the last two years. Itโ€™s time they learned that arrogance leads to downfall.โ€

Macro blinked in surprise. Arrogance leading to downfall? Coming from Sebastian? She found it ironic. In Fiorenza, no one was more arrogant than Sebastian. He was the undisputed champion.

โ€œGot it,โ€ Macro said. โ€œTotal despair, huh? Alright. I got it.โ€

โ€œAlright, I got it,โ€ he repeated. โ€œGet them total despair, right?โ€

โ€œYes!โ€ Catlin received a call from Macroโ€™s assistant. The voice was indifferent but firm. โ€œWhether Dr. Vitale agrees to a house call depends entirely on Miss Giovanni.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Catlin was shocked.

Stephanie would never help Olivia. Her stance was unwavering, leaving no hope. Catlin had hoped that by avoiding Stephanie, a glimmer of hope might remain. She hadn't expected this. The assistantโ€™s words suggested a close relationship between Macro and Stephanie.

โ€œWhy should her opinion matter?โ€ Catlinโ€™s emotions were frayed. โ€œDr. Vitale is highly skilled. Does he need her permission to save lives?โ€

Seeking Stephanieโ€™s opinion was tantamount to accepting Oliviaโ€™s death. Stephanie wouldnโ€™t save Olivia; her attitude was too uncompromising.

โ€œMrs. Hart, Iโ€™ve conveyed Dr. Vitaleโ€™s message. Youโ€™d better find a way through Miss Giovanni.โ€ The call ended abruptly.

Catlin was distraught. Her hands trembled as she turned to Tyler. โ€œMacro and Stephanie are closeโ€ฆโ€

Tylerโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œJust how many powerful people does Stephanie know?โ€

Catlinโ€™s lips quivered. โ€œCโ€“Call Chris. Call Chris right now. Stephanie holds all the power.โ€ The thought sent Catlin into a spiral. โ€œWhy does everything depend on Stephanie? What is she to all these people?โ€

Catlin was furious. Grace had warned her last night, but now, she had no choice. Tyler immediately called Chris. Meanwhile, Chris stood outside Stephanieโ€™s studio.

He answered the call. Tyler's explanation elicited disbelief. โ€œMacro is really close with her?โ€

โ€œAbsolutely,โ€ Tyler confirmed. โ€œWhether Macro treats Olivia or not is entirely up to Stephanie.โ€
