Chapter 121

Chris stormed off, furious. Jennifer cautiously peeked in, relieved. God knows how terrifying an angry boss can be.

"Is he gone?" Stephanie asked.

Jennifer nodded. "Yeah, but he looked awful. He was soaked and limping."

Stephanie sighed. "You really did a number on him?"

"I didn't hit him," Stephanie replied.

"Really? Because it looks like Chris got beat up pretty badly."

Stephanie fell silent. If Chris had been beaten, he'd certainly taken quite a few blows these past few days—first from Sebastian, then from her, and now from Elliot.

"Ugh, what can I say? Teaching a fool is exhausting."

"Wait, are you calling Chris a fool?"

"No way! He manages a huge company like Ashford Group. If he's a fool, then everyone before him was irresponsible."

"He's a fool; he can't even take a hit."

At that moment, Stephanie truly believed Chris was a fool. Everything she needed to say had been said; she'd even taken action, yet he still hadn't understood. It was infuriating.

Meanwhile, Chris was in the car with Kevin, who was shocked to see him drenched. "Sir, what happened to you…?"

Chris replied, "If you still can't figure out those guys around Stephanie…"

"She's moved to Whispering Bay now." Before Chris could finish, Kevin quickly shared the news, trying to remain composed.

The air in the car went dead silent. Chris narrowed his eyes. "What did you say?"

Stephanie moved to Whispering Bay?

Kevin nodded. "Miss Giovanni moved out of Cloudridge Valley. She's now living in Whispering Bay."

The news hit Chris like a bomb, shattering his composure. His mind went blank.

"Are you sure?" he finally managed to ask, his voice barely audible.

Kevin nodded firmly. "Absolutely."

Chris was stunned. Stephanie had actually moved to Whispering Bay? Why? What was the reason? When she had been there before, he thought she was just brought in by one of those men. She was just there… for what? An inexplicable tightness gripped his chest.

"Why is she living there?" he asked, voicing his inner turmoil. Although Stephanie hadn't shown the intense feelings for him that the world claimed she had, she'd always kept her life clean and simple, with only two friends, Allison and Ella. Why were there suddenly so many men around her? Why Whispering Bay? And who were those men?

Kevin continued, "It's likely because of the owner of Whispering Bay. I've checked, though I haven't seen definitive property evidence yet. But when the land was bought, the contract was signed by a Mr. Blake, a 58-year-old man."

Chris frowned. "58?"

Kevin nodded. "Yes, according to the information, the land was bought eight years ago, so Mr. Blake would be 66 now."

Chris fell silent. In the confined car, the air grew heavy once more.
