Listen to this chapter:

Catlin had been tricked into signing severance papers, only to find Stephanie reneging on her promise regarding Doctors Vitale and Pierce.

“You… you’ve crossed the line!”

Catlin, furious, gasped for breath. Her vision blurred, and she fainted.

Stephanie calmly phoned Jennifer. “Call an ambulance. Someone passed out.”

Jennifer’s voice rose. “Wait, what? Passed out? Here?” Mrs. Hart appeared perfectly healthy. This better not be a staged stunt.

“I’m on it.”

Jennifer, suspicious, called 911 multiple times to expedite the response. Within fifteen minutes, the ambulance arrived, taking Catlin away.

Returning, Jennifer wiped sweat from her brow. “Boss, that woman either has a heart condition, or you’re being scammed.” Knowing the Harts’ reputation, she suspected a cash grab.

Stephanie leaned back, unimpressed. “Heart condition? Nah, I just pissed her off.”

“Huh?”

“I made her so mad she passed out.”

Jennifer’s jaw dropped, but considering the Harts’ actions, she felt no sympathy for Catlin. “Alright, enough gawking,” Stephanie said. “Check your inbox.”

She slid a note across the desk—an address and phone number Elliot had found—and instructed Jennifer to mail it. Tyler Hart had been surprisingly generous with his mistress, likely due to their child. She lived comfortably in a gated community, treated like a minor celebrity. He'd given her nearly everything short of the Mrs. Hart title.

“On it,” Jennifer replied.

Catlin’s dramatic fainting spell ensured Chris and Tyler would soon arrive at Stephanie’s office, ready to cause trouble. Jennifer barely finished mailing the letter before reappearing. “Boss, Tyler Hart’s here.” Her tone was dripping with contempt, revealing her awareness of the unearthed information.

A man cheating on his fiancée wasn't shocking, but Tyler's behavior was exceptionally sleazy. Stephanie remained unfazed. “Let him in. Oh, and send that woman a preview.”

“Got it.”

Jennifer understood Stephanie’s plan. The Harts wanted to make her life miserable? Excellent. She was about to turn their world upside down.

Tyler entered, his face thunderous. Days had passed since their last encounter, days he’d spent investigating. He still didn't know Stephanie's mysterious backer. Recent events had been eye-opening, particularly Skyriver Travel’s representative who bluntly stated, “Cut ties with her? We can’t, and frankly, we wouldn’t dare.” They concluded with, “By the way, who the hell are you again?”

A company like Skyriver Travel, intimidated by Stephanie? The final question was a slap in the face, a clear indication that her backer was untouchable. Stephanie was heavily protected; they couldn't make a move against her. They'd underestimated her—she was a spiked grenade. Touch her, and they'd bleed.
