Chapter 155: Resolution

“Are you okay now?” He kept his voice calm, despite his own frayed nerves. Thinking about her earlier collapse only fueled her anger toward Stephanie.

“The doctor said if we can’t get Doctors Vitale and Pierce back soon, Olivia has maybe three months left.”

Tyler’s breath hitched. “Then do the surgery now. Clearly, we can’t rely on Stephanie.” He didn’t hesitate. If they couldn’t save Olivia’s uterus, so be it. Saving her life was all that mattered. Stephanie, that heartless woman, would likely celebrate Olivia’s death.

But his mother’s response stunned him. “It’s not that simple.”

“What do you mean?”

“The cancer is spreading rapidly. They said we’ve missed the optimal time for surgery. Even if they operate now, they’re unsure she’ll survive.”

It all came down to Doctors Vitale and Pierce. They were Olivia’s only hope. “If we’d acted a few days ago, maybe… But now, we’re out of time.”

Tyler’s voice tightened. “It’s only been a few days!”

“To us, yes. But for someone with advanced cancer, every hour counts.” Olivia’s body was battling multiple conditions.

Tyler’s breathing grew shallow.

“And Stephanie…” His mother’s voice trembled with rage. “She lied to me.”

Tyler’s fists clenched, his nails digging into his palms. “She deceived you?” He already knew Stephanie had sent his mother to the hospital; this only intensified his fury.

“She promised that if I signed the disownment papers, she’d bring back Doctors Vitale and Pierce. I signed, and now she’s pretending it never happened.” Tyler knew that was the agreement. He’d even wondered why his mother hadn’t signed immediately. Saving Olivia should have been the priority. It turned out Stephanie never intended to involve Doctors Vitale or Pierce, regardless of whether his mother signed.

Furious, Tyler snapped, “This is insane! I’m going there right now!” He spun, ready to confront her.

But as he hung up, Sebastian’s face flashed in his mind—that cold, lethal presence. If he went back now, it wouldn’t be a confrontation; it would be a bloodbath. His body shook with rage and helplessness.

Before he could act, his phone buzzed again. This time, it was his father. Before Tyler could speak, Chad’s voice, sharp and direct, cut through. “Get to the office. Now.”

“What’s going on?”

“Something happened.”

The tone alone sent a chill down Tyler’s spine. He glanced at the Eastview Tower entrance, briefly considering pursuing Stephanie, but ultimately turned and left.

Meanwhile, back in the office, Stephanie was in a full-blown panic. She lunged for the velvet box in Sebastian’s hand, but too late. Sebastian smoothly evaded her and opened the box. His eyes fell upon the massive diamond ring, then slowly shifted to Stephanie. “Stefi, care to explain this?”

His voice was gentle, almost unnervingly so. That gentleness sent a wave of fear through Stephanie. She stammered, “It’s not what you think! That—thing, it’s nothing! The guy who gave it to me? A complete psycho! I swear!”

That “apology gift” from Jackson? She had no idea it was an engagement ring. Who gifts a giant diamond to apologize?

She was doomed.
