Chapter 162

That night, many people slept poorly. Olivia's illness had worsened, causing unbearable pain and preventing her from sleeping. In the past, Chris and Tyler had always been by her side, but tonight, neither of them came. Only Catlin remained at the hospital.

In the middle of the night, Olivia was racked with pain. Turning over, she saw her pillow covered in strands of her hair, and her eyes instantly reddened. Catlin comforted her, "It will grow back after you recover."

"Where's Chris?" Olivia sniffled, her voice weak.

Catlin replied, "He said he has an important business meeting in Long Harbor and will be delayed." This was what Grace had told her. Chris supposedly had to meet an extremely important business partner in the coming days; however, the deal remained unfinalized. At such a critical juncture, no mistakes could be afforded.

Because of Olivia's pain, Catlin had called Chris, hoping he could find another way to contact Allison and Macro. Stephanie had deceived them, but they couldn't afford to give up. However, Grace answered, scolding Catlin harshly and snapping, "Even if Olivia dies in the next two days, don't bother looking for Chris."

Hearing such cruel words about the child she had raised, Catlin felt angry, but she dared not argue. The Hart family was deteriorating rapidly; the Ashfords were clearly using them and now abandoning them.

Olivia's mood plummeted. "I see... Let's not disturb him then."

Catlin added, "He probably won't be coming for the next few days." Grace's tone made it clear this business deal was of paramount importance. She had even warned that if the deal failed because of Olivia, she would make them pay. With such a severe warning, Catlin naturally didn't dare contact Chris again.

When Olivia heard that Chris wouldn't be visiting for several days, her face froze. "Several days?" She was scheduled for discharge in three days; Chris had promised she could recover at Whispering Bay. But if he wasn't coming to the hospital, would she still be able to leave on time?

Catlin nodded. "Yes, he won't be coming for several days. You shouldn't call him either." Grace's temper was formidable.

Hearing this, Olivia's eyes welled up. Catlin couldn't bear to see her like this. "Don't cry. It's just for a few days. That deal is really important." If it weren't, Grace wouldn't have been so furious.

"Will I still be able to leave the hospital on time?" Olivia choked out.

Catlin paused. Discharge? Thinking of Chris's promise, she considered before saying, "I'm sure Whispering Bay has already been arranged. I'll call tomorrow morning to check. Even if he doesn't come, we'll proceed with the discharge as planned." She knew Olivia wanted to leave the hospital; the strong smell of disinfectant bothered her, and she longed for the fresh air of Whispering Bay.

Olivia felt a little better. "I wonder if the curtains have been changed yet." She had always wanted them replaced with sunflowers, symbolizing rebirth. She wanted to get well soon; the hospital's disinfectant smell was overpowering.
