Chapter 225
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, Olivia would never have believed he'd respond like that. He had clearly promised before, yet he was so cold. She took several deep breaths and called Chris, but the call disconnected after only one ring. Chris's attitude was tormenting her. But at that moment, she lacked the courage to call him again. Stephanie… Did she know something beforehand? The more Olivia thought about it, the angrier she became.
At the same time, in the Spring Mountain infirmary:
“Ah! Ouch, it hurts! Be gentle!” Stephanie screamed, her body tense. Beside her, Sebastian watched with a slight smile. “It hasn’t started yet?”
Stephanie was shocked. “No way! What on earth was Macro doing? That needle clearly touched my knee!” She opened her eyes and looked at Macro. The needle was still in his hand.
Macro said hopelessly, “I haven’t even started, and you’re already in pain? Tell your brother; I don’t want to take the blame.” If he really hurt Stephanie, Sebastian’s kick would send him flying, and he’d be blamed for poor acupuncture skills. That would be a real injustice.
“If you’re not inserting it, why are you pointing the needle at my knee?” Stephanie asked angrily.
“I need to find the right spot. I’m checking for the most effective location.”
“Then find it! Just keep the needle away from me!” She was terrified of needles, and watching one hover above her knee was unbearable.
“Fine. Don’t scream. It won’t hurt.”
“Waaahhhh!”
Sebastian sighed, “Alright, stop screaming. It’s done.”
Stephanie blinked. “Huh? Done?” She felt no pain. She glanced at Macro; he was already picking up the second needle. This was why she’d been reluctant; acupuncture required countless shots, unlike an IV.
Although she hadn’t felt pain from the first needle, Stephanie remained afraid.
“Don’t be afraid, close your eyes.” Sebastian’s warm palm gently covered her eyes, then tilted her head and pressed her into his embrace. Stephanie’s muffled voice came from his chest. “Sebastian, isn’t there another way? Medicine would work…” She genuinely dreaded acupuncture.
Sebastian’s voice was gentle, “It’ll be over soon. Marco has already inserted several needles.” This was meant to comfort, but Stephanie shuddered.
“Stop struggling!” Macro said. Usually so bold, she was terrified.
At that moment, Elliot walked in and whispered, “Mr. Giovanni.”
Sebastian glanced up. “All done?”
Elliot nodded. “Yes. Jackson is a straightforward partner. He said he would make changes as soon as there was any problem.”
Hearing this, Stephanie glanced at Sebastian. “You just met Fred. What’s going on?” Although she hadn’t watched, she was curious about Chris’s feelings.
Sebastian understood and pinched her ear, amusement in his voice. “Chris is probably looking for a way out right now.”
“A way out? Looking for me?” Stephanie asked, puzzled. Now that Chris knew Sebastian was the Lucano heir and owned Whispering Bay, he must realize how badly he’d offended him.
“So Fred knows about the grudge between you and Chris?”
Sebastian replied indifferently, “As a father, he must know what his son has been up to.” Stephanie was silent. Fred must be frantic, pressuring Chris to resolve the situation.
