Chapter 49

Though he owned several seaside properties, none were quite suitable for her condition. The spaces weren't large enough, and a full medical team and equipment would be required. After careful consideration, Chris realized Whispering Bay was the most suitable option.

He knew the owners wouldn't sell; that was clear. Renting it for a period seemed the best approach.

"Whispering Bay?" Kevin blinked in surprise. "Do you think the owners will actually rent it out?"

He knew the property had been vacant for some time and the owners had previously refused to sell. Would a few months' rent sway them?

Chris responded calmly, "The rent is negotiable. I'll offer five times the market price."

Kevin nodded, processing the information. "Got it. I'll take care of it."

"I'd like to see some progress this afternoon," Chris added firmly.

He was meticulous about Olivia's well-being, never overlooking a detail. The situation was difficult to accept, but he faced the harsh truth: Olivia's condition was dire, and she might not survive. The combination of illnesses was deadly.

At Whispering Bay, things unfolded quietly. Stephanie hadn't slept well the previous night. Sebastian coaxed her into breakfast in the morning, but she returned to sleep for the rest of the morning. By lunchtime, she wasn't even hungry.

Sebastian sat by her bedside, his face soft with affection as he gently pinched her cheek. "You're really this tired?"

Stephanie could barely keep her eyes open, letting out a faint hum before turning over to try and sleep. Seeing her exhaustion, Sebastian decided not to disturb her. He stood and quietly left the room. Passing the waiting servant, he said, "Don't disturb her. Let her eat when she wakes up."

"Understood, Mr. Giovanni," the servant replied respectfully.

Sebastian nodded. Without lunch, he immediately left Whispering Bay to make a phone call. Stephanie slept soundly until nearly 2 p.m., when Jennifer called, mentioning several design issues the designer couldn't resolve.

Stephanie dragged herself from bed, still groggy. "I'll be over in a bit."

"Alright," came the reply before the call ended.

Stephanie freshened up and changed clothes. A servant waited by the door as she stepped out. The servant bowed. "Miss, you're awake. Mr. Giovanni said you should eat something first."

"Where is he?" Stephanie asked, still half-dazed.

"He received a call and left. He said you should eat by yourself," the servant answered.

"Okay," Stephanie nodded absently.

She wasn't surprised. Sebastian was always busy. Even in Florence, when her father was alive, she often didn't see him for a week. His stay in Long Harbor was likely short, and he would be preoccupied with work.
