Chapter 106: Does the Narcissist Not Care About His Reputation?

Hendrick's agent, engrossed in his phone, was unaware of the Twitter app's crash. He left to arrange transportation, oblivious to the unfolding drama. Mirabelle's loyal assistant, preoccupied with enlisting ghostwriters to discredit Danielle, also missed the crucial news.

Maverick, maintaining a calm facade, approached Danielle. Her grim expression revealed her awareness of their actions. He felt uneasy but ventured, "Dani, I need to talk. Can we step outside?"

Danielle's sharp gaze pierced him. "Did you think I'd continue taking the blame? That another incident wouldn't matter?"

Maverick's eyes darted around. "Let's talk outside," he hissed, displeased by her public accusation.

Danielle chuckled coldly. "No need. We'll sign this termination contract, and I won't make any public statements about the script mishap." She produced a contract and placed it before him.

A gasp rippled through the onlookers. Had Maverick's actions truly pushed Danielle to this point? Everyone knew about the previous incident—the script changes and Danielle's protests—and Maverick's refusal to take responsibility. His attempt to shift blame was distasteful. Out of respect for their past, Danielle planned a clean break, shouldering the responsibility herself.

Heads bowed, eyes glued to phones, then suddenly lifted as three new figures entered. Messages flooded in. Hendrick paused, perplexed. Why were so many people staring? Mirabelle, too, felt the strange intensity of the collective gaze.

The Quirk family members watched eagerly, anticipating the shifting expressions. Maverick, oblivious, exclaimed, "Danielle, is this necessary? It's not your first time… Are you terminating the contract just to throw a tantrum?"

Danielle rolled her eyes. "I mentioned termination before, but you ignored it. I prepared everything, signed the papers. The contract is effective once you sign. Still think it's a tantrum?" Maverick was stunned.

"As for other contracts, I'll deal with them legally. I'll bear any losses within my responsibility. Let's terminate immediately," Danielle declared.

The Quirk family agreed that Maverick needed to be removed. Danielle presented the pen.

"Y-You're really doing this? You can't accept me…" Maverick glanced at Mirabelle.

The Quirk family muttered, "He's a narcissist!"

Disgust twisted Danielle's mouth. "You think I'm jealous? Your imagination is vivid, but your fantasy is disgusting!" Why did she have to be so blunt? Did Maverick not care about his reputation?

The onlookers, feigning preoccupation, eagerly eavesdropped. Keep talking! Don't let them leave! This is juicy gossip!

Maverick's face flushed. "What do you mean you're not jealous? You've done so much for me…negotiated contracts until you were sick…" He trailed off.

Others were astonished. How could Maverick treat her this way? He was heartless!

Danielle scoffed, "I did it for my career! Even if I trained a dog, I'd invest this much!"

Overwhelmed, Maverick stumbled back. Even a dog is more dedicated! The Quirk family debated which of the two was more problematic.

"I saw potential in you. Now, you're nothing. I'm not going down with you. Every second bound to you is torture. I have evidence to prove your lies, so sign this!" Maverick's color drained.

How dare he still act like the victim?

Danielle brandished her phone. "Stop, or I'll—"

"Maverick!" Hendrick's warning, along with Mirabelle's worried gaze, silenced the room. The unspoken communication between the three caused an awkward ripple through the onlookers. They're still oblivious!

Maverick steadied himself, taking the contract. "Are you really terminating it?"

Danielle nodded. "I've always kept my word. If I say I won't publicize it, I won't. If you pin this on me, I'll accept it!"

Maverick signed, making two copies. His expression serious, he handed over the contract. "I owe you."

"We're even," Danielle replied, accepting the contract.

Isabella erupted in laughter. Danielle was amazing! A sneaky counterattack!

The Quirk family agreed. They'd see if Maverick's plan backfired.

The onlookers exclaimed at Danielle's magnanimity. Then, Hendrick's manager and Mirabelle's assistant burst in, frantic.

"Hendrick, we're in trouble!" the manager shouted. "Check your phone, Mira!"

Maverick felt a cold dread as he checked his phone. He felt a jolt. His legs wobbled. He looked up at Danielle. "Was this your doing?"
