Chapter 117: Plagued by Despicable Men

A twitch played at the corner of Isabella’s mouth. She was beyond arguing about the "Justice Upholder" nickname. I thought it was an internet joke, but to my surprise, the elegant Mrs. Gonzales took it seriously. Doesn't she feel embarrassed? I'm mortified. This is absurd.

Internally, Isabella raged, but maintained a composed expression. Unbeknownst to her, Selena and Rosalie, about to enter, stopped dead in their tracks. Of all the "Quirks," they had the most free time. Curious about Alexander and Isabella's progress at the company, they'd decided to sneak a peek. However, the couple weren't in the office. Instead, they stumbled upon a juicy piece of gossip.

Exchanging glances, they saw their own reflections in each other's eyes. With fisherman's hats and sunglasses to conceal their faces, they believed sneaking in would be easy.

While Isabella and Ruth were engrossed in conversation, the two slipped in unnoticed. They found a secluded booth and eavesdropped.

"Mrs. Gonzales, are you joking?" Isabella asked, with a forced laugh.

Ruth, eyes sharp, retorted, "Of course not. Didn't you handle the first two groups well? I believe you're a person with a strong sense of justice, Ms. Jeannet, and wouldn't tolerate such shameless individuals."

Ruth felt that even without seeking Isabella, Team A-list would have targeted Rebecca's weakness. Rebecca was alluring and adept at seducing men; she'd lay low after each incident, but always resurfaced. They'd approached Isabella for a collaboration to eliminate future troubles.

"As long as you cooperate, we'll handle everything," Ruth said, her gaze intense.

Isabella asked, "What are your plans?"

Ruth frowned, discontented by Isabella's nonchalant attitude. "Even though the face-off is decided by lottery, the five of us putting pressure on the production team will ensure your two groups compete first."

"I'll suggest the topic: 'woman'," Ruth continued. "Then you can portray this so-called 'close female confidant' as a shameless woman who tempts other people's husbands. Don't beautify such despicable behavior. Those who destroy families should face retribution."

Ruth's tone was laced with jealousy and resentment. The others wore malicious expressions.

Selena and Rosalie were shocked, whispering amongst themselves. Were they really going to go that far?

"Could the netizens' concerns about the show be true?" Rosalie exclaimed. "Weren't Mrs. Gonzales and Ms. Yancey getting along? How did it suddenly…"

Selena, having closely watched the situation, knew about Gordon and Rebecca's relationship. Due to the TV series Tales of Cleopatra, Gordon (Julius Caesar) and Rebecca (Cleopatra) had become the center of online speculation. Everyone wondered if the wife-loving Gordon would be entangled in a scandal like other men who worked with Rebecca. Everything had been fine until filming wrapped, with no suspicious scenes.

"Judging by Mrs. Gonzales' sudden change, something must have gone wrong," Selena said, concerned.

"So… did Ms. Yancey seduce Mr. Gonzales and get caught?" Rosalie asked, shocked. "If I didn't know better, I'd think Ms. Yancey really tried to seduce your husband. Isn't it just that your husband wants a divorce?"

Selena and Rosalie realized Gordon wanted a divorce. They recalled Gordon owed his position to Ruth.

Selena and Rosalie were shocked. A seasoned actor, built his fortune on a woman, and now wanted a divorce?

"If you can't bear it, blacklist your husband!"

Selena and Rosalie almost laughed, but suppressed their amusement, wanting to give Isabella a thumbs-up.

"Why do women confront other women instead of the man? Address the root problem, sister!"

Selena and Rosalie nodded in agreement.

After a wave of internal criticism, Isabella found Ruth still talking.

"This is straightforward, almost identical to the first group’s situation," Ruth said coldly.

Isabella felt sympathy for Ruth. Raising an eyebrow, she said, "For the first group, we knew the truth, but now… I have no idea what's going on. You claim Rebecca is the other woman. Is there any proof?"

"Are you rejecting us, Ms. Jeannet? Are you intending to assist that vixen?" Ruth asked sternly.

Isabella smiled. "I can't scheme against someone based on your comment, can I?"

Selena and Rosalie were discontent. Their Isabella wasn't a pawn. What if Rebecca proved her innocence? Isabella’s reputation would be ruined.

Isabella's request infuriated Ruth. "She's a homewrecker, convincing my husband to divorce me! Isn't that enough? What more proof do you need?"

Ruth looked at Isabella as if she were unreasonable. Shouldn't everyone side with the original wife?

Isabella was speechless. She had a nagging feeling that voicing her thoughts would cause commotion. Ruth didn't know Isabella could uncover gossip.

In reality, Gordon pursued Rebecca. Rebecca, needing to continue her live broadcasts and relying on him for the team competition, subtly expressed that she wouldn't be the other woman. She knew Gordon rose to his status because of Ruth.

Selena and Rosalie understood. The blame lay with Gordon, who couldn't control himself. Ruth wasn't one to analyze right from wrong; the moment Gordon decided to divorce her, she blamed Rebecca.

Observing Isabella’s lack of cooperation, the other ladies grew restless.

"Rebecca is the other woman," one lady said. Accusations followed: Rebecca using rehearsals as an excuse to enter Gordon's RV; sitting on his lap; sneaking into his room; rubbing against him.

Isabella took out her phone and searched, ignoring them.

"What are you doing?" The ladies were taken aback.

"Oh, I hadn't paid attention," Isabella said, smiling, vexing the wives. They comforted each other, finding Isabella disrespectful and vowing to confront Gordon later.

Selena and Rosalie also searched. Based on the wives' accounts, the "mistress" label stuck to Rebecca.

The entertainment industry was ambiguous. Defining Rebecca's true nature was complex. Isabella never interfered, respecting others' fates. Only in clear cases of right and wrong did she intervene.

Then, another woman revealed the truth: Gordon was the instigator of all the incidents. He was the one who pulled Rebecca onto his lap, forced her to sit, used the script as an excuse to visit her late at night, and initiated physical contact, even having an erection during filming. Rebecca was the victim of sexual harassment.

Selena and Rosalie were infuriated. Their investigation revealed Rebecca wasn't the only woman Gordon was linked to. The real issue was Gordon. Rebecca was plagued by despicable men.
