Chapter 123: Can I Rely On You?

Danielle wasn't intentionally exaggerating Rebecca's hardships, but she did possess some insider knowledge within their circle. Rebecca had faced difficulties, but those who had suffered more in this circle had already met tragic ends. Rebecca, however, was different—mentally resilient and intelligent. This was why Danielle was eager to mentor her; she saw great potential.

However, she remained cautious. She continued, "Even though she brought it up, it's hard to say what Rebecca's true nature is like now. She's been through a lot for a decade, even facing a ban. External issues are difficult enough, let alone—"

Coming back to her senses, Isabella pondered and said, "Isn't that just how it is with signing artists? You only know if they're good or bad after you start working with them. If it doesn't work out, we can always terminate the contract. I trust you won't be at a disadvantage in the contract."

Danielle laughed. "So, you agree with me signing her?"

Isabella was puzzled. Why did Danielle keep asking for her opinion? Hadn't she said to follow Danielle's judgment? She didn't understand these matters anyway. Suddenly, Alexander beckoned her over.

Isabella held the phone to her ear. Alexander leaned in, whispering, "She wants to know if, if she signs Rebecca, you'll support her."

His warm breath tickled Isabella's ear, making her instinctively squirm. She accidentally grazed Alexander's lips. Isabella didn't seem to mind, but Alexander, uncomfortable, stepped back, his Adam's apple bobbing.

Isabella understood Alexander's subtle hint. True to his reputation, his mind was sharp.

Isabella was speechless. Danielle had been circling around the issue, finally revealing her worry about Rebecca attracting negative attention. Without a powerful ally, even if innocent, Rebecca would be targeted. The entertainment industry didn't operate on fairness but on financial backing. With sufficient capital, fairness became mere embellishment. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many unresolved old cases. Danielle knew Rebecca was a magnet for trouble. But with Isabella, the Lady of the Quirk family, as her support, Rebecca would have nothing to fear. It would be like riding a favorable wind—the stronger the rumors, the higher Rebecca would soar. But if Isabella found it troublesome, signing Rebecca would be a setback.

That was the real reason for her call.

Upon hearing about the ladies' group's affairs, Danielle felt overwhelmed. She considered abandoning the idea of relying on Isabella, but Isabella's positive attitude toward Rebecca prompted her to try again.

"Asking me to back her up? That's tough," Isabella thought.

Alexander's brow twitched, anticipating unpleasant words. He interrupted, "Remember, you're Mrs. Quirk. You share everything with me. You can back whoever you like."

Isabella was surprised by his respectful tone. She murmured, "What if we get divorced?"

Alexander thought, Can you be more enthusiastic about our marriage?

Selena and Rosalie coughed.

Selena reassured, "Don't worry, Bella. If a pitiful girl's situation comes to our attention, it's fate. If we can help, we will. Consider it charity."

Isabella finally responded to Danielle, "Danielle, I have no issues."

Danielle likely overheard the conversation. She realized the Quirk family's influence. "All right, I understand. The contract termination is likely after the next battle. I'll evaluate her carefully before then."

Danielle ended the call.

Out of curiosity, everyone researched Rebecca on their way home. The articles were filled with terms like "mistress," "lover," and "seductress," implying she lured various individuals. The negativity was overwhelming.

Everyone preferred Isabella's perspective. Isabella didn't disappoint, especially since she was genuinely curious.

Darn it, this is tragic.

The Quirk family listened to the gossip with heavy hearts.

Her appearance is truly a curse.

The car was quiet, everyone anxiously waiting.

From a young age, Rebecca developed faster than other girls, leading to teasing and ostracism. Fortunately, she had a loving family.

Her first horrifying incident occurred in sixth grade. A teacher made inappropriate advances. She fought back and escaped, but her experience was dismissed. They claimed she was lying for attention or out of spite. Lacking evidence, her parents transferred her to another school.

Selena and Rosalie were furious. Rosalie found a news article: a primary school teacher claimed Rebecca was precocious, used scandalous lies to gain advantages, and even slandered him, attempting to seduce him from a young age.

Rosalie showed everyone.

"Damn, we can't let this scum get away!"

Selena suggested, "Cough, cough…such an assertion lacks evidence. There are two sides to every story. An investigation is needed. What if the teacher had issues? Who knows how many children were harmed?"

Alexander said, "Understood, I'll arrange for someone to handle it."

Isabella surprised everyone. "It seems unnecessary. That teacher has already been dealt with."

Everyone stared at Isabella, who frowned slightly. She remembered the teacher and, fueled by revenge and concern for potential victims, had sought help from a wealthy patron she knew. The patron, disregarding legal means, took care of it.

The car fell silent.

Why not track down those three junior high school boys and exact revenge? They should get a taste of their own medicine!
