Chapter 15: A Surprise

Upon hearing the embarrassing words, the Quirk family felt awkward. Nonetheless, they eagerly anticipated what would happen next.

"I was just taking a shower; that's why it took me so long to open the door," Alexander explained.

"Ah, it's okay," Isabella replied smoothly. That was impressive!

Isabella maintained her composure, trying to look away from Alexander's captivating figure. Alexander's lips twitched. "Have you decided?"

The Quirk family listened anxiously.

"-Sure, I have ten million now. Can you help me invest?"

The Quirks were speechless. Alexander nodded.

"But I need to know how you can guarantee a profit," Isabella stated earnestly. "Investing always carries risks."

Alexander replied, "If there's a loss, it's on me. I fully guarantee your principal is safe."

Isabella was surprised by this unexpected offer.

Alexander said, "Thank you for helping my family. Consider this a token of my gratitude."

Isabella readily accepted; she felt she had done them a significant favor. There was no need for false modesty.

"I'll transfer it to you later Hey, wait. Let's invest nine million instead. I'll keep a million on hand for emergencies."

Alexander was puzzled. "Is there an option to choose monthly dividends?" Isabella asked. "This way I'll have a steady income and can live a more relaxed lifestyle."

Alexander slightly furrowed his brow. "If you need money, just use your card."

Isabella laughed. "I know, but is it wrong to want to celebrate my profits every month? That card is under my name, and you freeze it when I offend you. I don't want to be penniless if you freeze it again."

Isabella's insecurity caused Alexander's gaze to flicker.

"Alright, I understand," Alexander said. "Remember the final payment for your last job has already been transferred. You should receive approximately one million by tomorrow. So, let's consider the total investment ten million."

"What? Really? Wasn't I just a nobody who relied on advertisements? Could the payment really be that high?" Isabella was shocked. "Did I remember it wrong?"

"This one's higher than usual," Alexander said casually, and Isabella believed him. Her laughter echoed in his mind.

The eavesdropping trio exchanged glances, sympathizing with Isabella. They believed her worries stemmed from Alexander's failure to provide a sense of security. "Fine, in the future, we'll give Isabella more money to increase her sense of security."

Alexander felt a chill, sensing danger. "If you have extra money, you can give it to me. I'll help you invest it."

"Alexander, you're perfect apart from not sharing my bed!"

Alexander was speechless. The eavesdropping trio exchanged glances. "If only I could sleep with him just once."

Alexander felt his ears burn. The trio rooted for Isabella, hoping her directness might work. "Come to think of it, I wonder if any woman has ever managed to win him over… I am certain I haven’t!"

Alexander worried she was about to reveal more secrets. The eavesdropping trio looked helpless. "Back when the incident first occurred, they themselves were not certain of the truth. It was only because many people had found out that they had no choice but to make Alexander take responsibility."

The eavesdropping trio wondered why Isabella was so surprised. Alexander felt an inexplicable sense of foreboding. "Surprisingly, Alexander is still a virgin. Wow, what a shocker!"

Alexander was shocked. The eavesdropping trio thought, "What do you mean a virgin? He's had girlfriends, been married, and dated celebrities. Yet he's still a virgin?"

Alexander's gaze narrowed, his face flushing. "What's so funny? This is too much!"

Isabella was laughing uncontrollably. Alexander's gaze swept to the far end of the corridor; he'd heard muffled chuckles. The eavesdroppers quickly moved away. "After all, they were in the wrong for eavesdropping. This was a family’s private affair which they had no intention of listening in. It was purely accidental on their part."

They couldn't resist looking again and saw Alexander pulling Isabella into the room, laughing. "Is something exciting going to happen?" They huddled by the door, but couldn't hear clearly. Isabella's inner voice had ceased, leaving only her heartbeat. She looked at Alexander in surprise. "What are you doing?"

Alexander, relieved from the laughter, regained his composure. With resentment, he glanced at Isabella. "I'm writing you a power of attorney agreement."

Isabella was baffled but pleased with his efficiency. Alexander, however, was far from satisfied. He couldn't prevent the constant chatter in his head; he blushed furiously as he wrote.

"It is truly hard to believe that someone as successful as Alexander is still a virgin. Even if he is a chaste person, sleeping with his first love should be considered innocent, shouldn’t it? Could it be that he can’t get it up? Probably not, as he has ripped-pack abs!"

The printed agreement landed on the table, halting Isabella's thoughts. Isabella was engrossed in the agreement and didn't notice Alexander's grim expression.

With the agreement, she left cheerfully. She slept soundly until the sun was shining brightly the next day, only to be awakened by the notification of the final payment being deposited into her account. Indeed, there was a million.

Descending the stairs, she saw Selena and Evian talking with Callahan. "You're finally up!" Selena remarked.

Isabella felt awkward. "I was tired yesterday, so I woke up late."

Selena and Evian's expressions were complex. During breakfast, when Selena subtly suggested preparing nourishing food for Isabella, Alexander's face darkened, indicating it wasn't necessary. They realized the couple hadn't slept together.

Isabella wondered if she'd been rude by oversleeping. Selena chuckled. "Sleep as long as you need to. Young people have different routines." Evian agreed. Callahan looked curiously at his mother; he'd seen her awake that morning. Evian felt embarrassed. "But I don’t do it now."

Selena instructed the maid to prepare a snack for Isabella; they were having lunch together. "Today, David and Alexander won't be home for lunch," Selena said.

Alexander rarely came home for lunch, and David had stepped out to handle Lawson family matters.

Isabella sat on the couch. "Hello, Aunt Isabella," Callahan greeted politely, but nervously. Selena and Evian noticed his awkwardness. They felt resentment toward Jasper and Sienna and regret for their initial assumptions.

Isabella thought, Callahan enjoys Rubik's Cubes, Legos, and model kits. Sienna deemed them too expensive.

Selena and Evian's faces froze. Callahan had only mentioned Rubik's Cubes. They felt heartbroken.

Selena and Evian steered the conversation toward Callahan and Christopher, mentioning the Quirk family's Lego and model kit collection. "Cal, do you know how to play with them? Would you like to…"

"I do. I like them," Callahan responded.

Selena and Evian allowed Callahan to choose toys from the storeroom and had many new toys delivered.

That evening, David and Alexander returned home to find the family playing with Lego. This brought warmth to their hearts. After dinner, they joined in.

A week later, many matters were settled. David handled everything efficiently—the divorce, reporting to authorities, and lawsuits. The Lawson family's private hospital went under, leaving Jasper with massive debt. They were destitute and living on the streets. Paula tried to cause a scene but couldn't get past security. David wouldn't allow any Lawson family member to see Evian and Callahan again. Jasper and Sienna faced imprisonment, but upon discovering Sienna's pregnancy, Jasper took all the blame, ensuring her release. Sienna wasn't moved. Joanne lost the child and vanished. In the end, they only cared about themselves. Jasper went amok in prison, lengthening his sentence. The Lawson family vanished from the city within ten days. Callahan transferred schools.

The Quirk family organized a welcome party for Callahan. Isabella regretted not knowing the faces of some guests. "I can check in advance if there is any juicy gossip."

The Quirk family was discussing the guest list when their attention was diverted. Isabella had discovered the butler's crush on the housekeeper.

"Will Christopher make it? Isn't he filming in a remote area with no signal?" David asked.

Alexander said, "I received a message from Chris. He's coming back and has something important to discuss."

The Quirk family fell silent. Isabella activated her Gossip System. Christopher wants to change the betrothal agreement. He's engaged to Luna Cowell, but he's fond of her sister, Bianca.

The Quirk family wasn't surprised. They didn't oppose their children's choices, only worrying about Christopher's temper. They decided to discuss it when he returned.

Isabella sighed. "Love is unpredictable. When Christopher was a child, he nearly died. It was Luna who saved his life. Yet, ironically, he ended up falling for her younger sister instead of her."

Everyone was shocked. "Hold on, wasn't it Bianca who saved Christopher?"
