Chapter 235: Loquacity Brings Down the Villain
Roland's dream was also a source of pain for the Brown family. Many relatives from his mother's side were visiting, and upon hearing the news, they erupted in anger. Who could have imagined that saving someone would invite such enmity?
During their student days, few had the courage to confront bullies. Those truly in need of rescue might still be trembling in the shadows, yet this despicable pair had mocked such noble acts. Their ingratitude was appalling.
At that moment, Ethan was intimate with Sasha.
"What's the matter? Still thinking about him?"
"No. Ethan, please take me with you. I beg you. I believe, deep down, you yearn for a family and to be a good father. Can you truly bear to abandon this child?"
"Enough. I'll repeat myself: you will obediently marry him, agree to his demand for termination, and let him believe you were coerced. Don't expose the truth!"
Isabella thought, Others relax with a cigarette after a scheme; these two just keep plotting. It does save them effort, though. And now, the baby is officially registered—hilarious! The revelation visibly shook everyone.
Could it be true? The child from the shotgun wedding wasn't Roland's? It belonged to the bastard? The Ford family's audacity was unbelievable! One impregnates her, the other marries her? Brotherly teamwork? Owen must have trained you well! No other family has come this close to such success. Or maybe… every family is like this? They should all take a hard look at themselves. It's spine-chilling, isn't it?
Meanwhile, some focused on Roland's actions. Could he have known the child wasn't his? He thought his wife was raped and was willing to endure everything, accepting the situation as long as the child was aborted? Is he a saint? Sadly, his magnanimity has been abused. I can't believe that b*tch snagged such a good man. If he was foolish with other women, he deserves reproach; if he were foolishly to choose me, I'd cherish him deeply.
The crowd's emotions were mixed, but the sharp-witted quickly grasped the crux of the matter, their expressions changing drastically. From Roland's face, Alexander knew they'd realized the truth.
Roland thought he'd reached the depths of despair, only to find an even deeper abyss. He realized the conversation wasn't a past recording; it was happening now. Sasha and Ethan were talking right then. She was having an affair at her own wedding.
The blow suffocated Roland, making his blood boil. For a moment, he wondered how much Sasha must despise him. Or perhaps he'd never truly known how deplorable she was.
Owen, still reeling from the revelation of his illegitimate child, was so enraged he nearly collapsed. The butler’s support prevented serious injury. Gritting his teeth, Owen instructed, "Go, find…"
Unsure where to begin, the butler first helped Owen sit before heading to the surveillance room.
The onlookers realized what was happening. Startled, they searched for the deceitful couple, their eyes gleaming with curiosity. Embarrassment was surpassed; they wanted to catch them in the act. After all, catching cheaters requires participation.
Ethan and Sasha remained oblivious. Soothing music filled the elegant manor, even in the restrooms. Their conversation, broadcast in the main hall due to a sensitive microphone, was muffled in the distant restroom. They mistook it for the emcee's voice, unaware their scheme was exposed.
Sasha wept at Ethan's words, her heart aching. "How could you be so heartless? Even if you don't want me, you can't abandon our child!"
"Why the rush? There will be more children. If Roland's afraid of raising my child, I'll make sure he does. Isn't he always busy being a cop? We'll have our chances. I'll keep making him a cuckold. Every child he has will be mine. Even if that old fart doesn't leave the Ford fortune to me, I want my child to inherit it!"
Isabella thought, Do villains always gloat? Their downfall is always excessive chatter. Game over. Even if Ethan weeps, plays the victim, and uses emotional blackmail, no moral guardians will step forward.
It was truly the end for Ethan. Alexander noticed the Ford relatives' discomfort. Even considering blood ties or Owen, Ethan's actions and words prevented his acceptance by the family. Any later repentance would be futile.
It wasn't fair, but accepting him would jeopardize the Ford family's collaborations. Collaborating with someone who persecuted his brother was unsettling. Even minor deals would be fraught with reservations, fearing betrayal with no recourse.
Hearing Ethan's plan, Roland witnessed the darkness of human nature. Unlike Josiah, almost tricked into being a substitute father, Roland had been completely deceived by a woman. He was unaware; if he had known, he would have stopped it. His own half-brother orchestrated it all. The mere thought of continuing with Sasha made him nauseous.
Stephanie staggered back. The repulsive man was her boyfriend. Months of a relationship churned her stomach. Others were even more amazed…
"Damn, this illegitimate child is malicious. He wants to exploit every opportunity."
Anyone unaware would think Roland had done something terrible. The scandal would make the Ford family the city's laughingstock.
"So… this was your plan. No, I can't agree. If you reject me, I'll be a dutiful wife to Roland. I swear I won't betray him again." Sasha struggled to speak.
Everyone was speechless. A hint of morality existed, but it felt like coercion.
Isabella thought, A dutiful wife? How noble! Should Roland be shedding tears of gratitude?
Alexander glanced at Roland, whose fists were clenched tight.
