Chapter 25: The Reveal

An eerie silence fell. They had been bombarded with shocking revelations, leaving them stunned. By breaking off her engagement and severing ties with the Cowell family, Luna was essentially renouncing them. They had only ever heard of illegitimate children desperately trying to insinuate themselves into their circles; never had they witnessed a prominent young lady willingly relinquish her status to leave.

It must have taken immense resolve for her to speak those words. However, considering the Cowell family's actions, it was unclear what lengths they might have gone to exploit Luna had she remained.

"Youโ€”you unfilial daughter!" Henry sputtered, speechless.

Marjorie, in tears, exclaimed, "Luna, is this how you repay us after how we raised you?"

"You may have given birth to me," Luna retorted, "but you never raised me. Given the choice, I'd rather never have been born to you than be used as a pawn to benefit Bianca."

Henry and Marjorie stared wide-eyed.

Bianca rushed forward, fiercely grabbing Luna's wrist. "Luna, please stop this nonsense! Even if you're upset, you can't say such things! Aren't you afraid of breaking our parents' hearts?" Her grip was so tight that Luna winced. Bianca's face was ashen. Clinging to Luna as if she were a lifeline, she choked out, "Listen, Luna. If you don't want to marry Thomas, then don't. If you break up, so be it. There's no need for such a fuss. I admit I was wrong before. I took your place for various reasons, so I can't blame you for blaming me now. I know you want revenge because you like Chris and don't want to break the engagement. That's okay. Now, can we go home and talk about this?"

As expected of someone who constantly bullies her sisterโ€ฆ Even now, she's still desperately trying to manipulate her. Did she really think Luna would change her mind? Luna must have indulged them greatly in the past to foster such delusions!

"Bianca, can't you understand simple words? I've proven myself. Now, what about you?" Luna said coldly, pulling away.

Bianca's expression contorted, her eyes flashing with madness. "I'm a daughter of the Cowell family! How dare you ask me to do such a thing? Luna, are you trying to kill our parents with worry? Or is this your way of humiliating me? I'm innocent! I don't even know him! If you push me any further, I might as well die right now!"

Bianca grabbed a pair of crab shell scissors from the buffet table and pointed them at her neck. "My death will prove my innocence!" she cried.

This terrified everyone.

Henry and Marjorie were panicked, pleading tearfully.

"It's all your fault! Look what you've done! Are you trying to get your sister killed?" Marjorie shrieked, slapping Luna.

Henry, equally enraged, yelled, "Are you satisfied now? Is this what you wanted? Aren't you going to apologize to your sister? You were with Thomas, yet you won't admit it! Do you really want to see your sister die?!"

Luna stared at Bianca, her face unreadable, a mixture of laughter and tears.

It was always like this. Even though she was the one enduring pain and humiliation, as soon as Bianca cried or made a fuss, they acted as if nothing happened. Not only that, but Luna was always made to seem at fault.

Why did I have to endure all this? Can I never escape this?

At that moment, Luna was so suffocated she couldn't speak. Everyone was startled by Bianca's actions and recoiled in shock.

The Quirks looked grim, then shocked. Before anyone could react, a figure appeared behind Bianca. With a thud, a tray knocked Bianca's head, sending her sprawling. The scissors flew from her hand.

Everyone stared at the woman who had appearedโ€”Isabella. The Quirks wondered when she'd arrived.

Isabella set down the tray. "Thank goodness I saw through her cunning scheme. She wanted to play the victim and shift the blame, even guilt-tripping Luna. It wasn't easy for Luna to break free and live her own life, so she mustn't be ruined by such a selfish and evil woman!"

If Bianca had harmed herself, Luna would have borne the blame for life. Even if innocent, the outside world would accuse her of driving her sister to suicide.

The Quirks looked grim. Thankfully, Isabella had saved the day.

Alexander gestured, and his bodyguards subdued the dazed Bianca.

"What are you doing!" Henry and Marjorie panicked.

Alexander replied coldly, "Your daughter has suicidal tendencies and is mentally unstable. For her safety, and to prevent harm to guests, we must restrict her actions."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, praising Isabella's swift action and Alexander's decisiveness.

It truly showed that one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Bianca was clearly unstable.

Henry and Marjorie looked grim. They had watched their daughter be treated as mentally ill.

"We're all family hereโ€”"

"Luna has broken off her engagement with my brother, so our families are no longer connected," Alexander said, pointedly omitting mention of Bianca and Christopher's affair.

Henry and Marjorie nearly collapsed. Moments ago, they had been vehemently denying Bianca's involvement with Christopher, fearing the loss of their rich son-in-law. Now, the situation was irreparable.

Bianca, regaining her senses, cried out, "Save me, Chris!"

But Christopher only stared at Luna, who stood silently, staring at the scissors by her feet, a terrifying heaviness about her.

Thomas stormed over, gripping Bianca's chin. "Was it you who was with me?"

"Let go of our daughter!" Henry pushed Thomas away. "Won't you Walkers do anything about this?"

"Hehโ€ฆ Thomas would never deceive someone's feelings or seek death when exposed. The Cowell family should be looking after their child."

Henry and Marjorie flushed crimson.

Thomas chuckled. "I won't be made a fool of. You won't admit it, huh? I have even more shocking photos, and I'll release them now. I refuse to believe you twins are identical in every way!"

This sent shivers down everyone's spines. They had taken such photos?

Bianca, seeing Thomas about to produce his phone, screamed, "You're lying! You never took any pictures!"

Luna remained impassive. The contrast was striking.

When Bianca came to her senses, her face was devoid of emotion. Henry and Marjorie looked utterly defeated.

"Yeah, I didn't. I lied, Bianca. Now, let's see how you'll defend yourself," Thomas sneered, then turned to Luna. "I'm sorry, I was deceived by your sister. I apologize, but this isn't my fault. How could I know you two look so alike?"

Luna's lips quivered, showing no joy at being exonerated. She seemed depressed.

Christopher's mood sank. Is Luna ill from the torment inflicted by her own family?

"It wasn't me! I'm being falsely accused! Mom! Dad! You have to vouch for me!" Bianca yelled.

Henry and Marjorie knew the situation was unsalvageable.

Bianca's reputation was ruined. She yelled at Luna, "Just admit it was you! Didn't you always obey me?"

Luna asked, "Why should I?"

"Why? Because you owe me! Because of you, I've been weak and sickly! You have no idea what it's like to grow up in a hospital, constantly medicated and undergoing surgeries, battling death every day. You're the reason! If I were healthy, I could have had a better life! All my misery should be your burden! You were born to be trampled under my feet, to sacrifice everything for me!"

Silence fell. Sympathetic glances were cast towards Luna, disdain towards Bianca, but finally settling on Henry and Marjorie. Everyone had assumed Marjorie's previous comments were a ploy. Even Bianca had thought so.

One could almost picture them unintentionally standing by the hospital bed, complaining to the sick little girl that her discomfort was because her twin sister had absorbed more nutrients. They blamed their misfortunes on an innocent child.

Henry and Marjorie were stunned. They believed Bianca was pure and endearing, even if naive. But Bianca's true nature shattered their illusions.

"Heh. No wonder you always defended meโ€”you were fueling the fire. It wasn't just about competing for our parents' affection. Bianca truly despised you and longed to torment you and ruin you."

Bianca's face drained of color. She trembled but refused to back down.

"It's all your fault! You made it easier for me to repay you! If you don't admit it, you'll bear the burden!"

Isabella's sentiments echoed everyone else's. No one knew how the Cowells raised such a child.

Luna's voice trembled. "No, don't even think about it again."

Luna picked up the scissors, poised to slash her own face. Everyone gasped.

Christopher intervened, blocking the scissors. His palm was bleeding.

"Let go! I'm done cleaning up her messes! I'm done with her stealing from me and taking the blame! I've had enough. I want to completely distance myself from her!" Luna said icily.
